What does it take to start a guild, and what is the price range for most homes.

I'm not a team member (and know next to nothing anyway), but guilds I believe need a good IC reason/background/purpose for them. It's easier to join one, but don't let that stop you if you think you have a good idea for one, I guess.
Houses just need bucket's o' gold, there's a housing section in... um, 'World Development' I think. Prices'll be there.
