I think the phrase "No Shit" is quite apt here ;-)

Although it is a shame - some of my characters might have actually been able to get exp from creatures they could actually handle :?

Setting Hostile - are these considered CvC?

I was just involved with a CvC incident at Elf Gate - and I am not going to mention names here as I discussed it with the players involved afterwards and there was some confussion. However, one player cast darkness and ran off while the second one cast invisible and also ran off - neither of these p...

Pirate? Not in NWN's case. Go to your NWN\docs\ folder and find perfectly legal versions of all three NWN manuals in pdf format. They are part of the default game installation. That was my point - the copy of NWN I got didn't have paper copies of the manuals but instead had all of them on th...

One big problem with RTFM is that the copy I got didn't come with a FM (PDF all the way - because companies WANT you to pirate software really).

Then the problem with the printout - is finding the bloody charts ;-)

With all the comments about being mindful of someone's level, at what level do you stop and treat with kid gloves, and is it level or time on Avlis? I think it is more a case of how new they are then how high a level - if they have been around long enough to have built up a reputation then I would ...

there is a very valid reason that Higher lvl folks picking on lower lvl folks can never be called bad. Anyone who is doing the right thing, and not metagameing... DOES NOT KNOW. They have no fucking idea what lvl the other character is. The people this kind of rule would hurt are only the honest on...

But hey, well done, I cannot reach that RPing level myself... BT...

I have only made a report to the team twice - the first I was advised to because I was killed by a much more powerful PC with absolutly no knowledge of why it happened IC or OOC. Plus there was no role-playing involved in the attack. The character just walked past saw my character cast a few spells ...

I agree, but that could be solved by saving just before doing a crafting run - I learnt my lesson after losing a lot of crafted items after a crash.

I personally prefer the new system, anything that is lost is more then made up by advancements to the ease of use of the whole system :-)

I love the chance to either bulk craft or craft fewer items in research mode :-)

The new system is great :-)

Edit: And yeah, I have 20% penalty too. It sucks not getting any xp for things you'd normally get 1 for, but that's the price for multiclassing. :) No it is the price of multiclassing away from your favoured class. Kar is triple-classed but one of his classes wizard and another is a PRC - so no exp...

Merlin, from the early version of the tale was only half human. You could call him a half elf or maybe a teifling, depending on your interpretation. There are many different versions of the legend, some of them have Merlin as a human not born but created by the druidic gods/goddess (of which the la...

Wizardry is about studying magic. If you have a vast lifespan to read all the books and research it, then it should help. I don't really buy that, why not have a favoured class of fighter as the vast lifespan gives them longer to practice with a sword? Yes, it would help but it would also apply to ...

Plus you would expect that favoured class would give some kind of bonus - it doesn't. Well it sort of does, it gives you an extra 20%, just not exclusively ;) Anyway, as agreed the xp penalty does suck. I don't think cancelling out an artificially created penalty (which only happens under certain c...

the whole favoured class is a crock of shit to. a elf makes the best wizard? pfft. Yeah, I agree. Maybe it is just me (because I play one) but I think of Ranger/Archer when I think of elves. I think of humans more when I think of wizards (mainly due to Merlin, and Gandalf) Plus you would expect tha...

Let me simply go on record as stating... that xp penalty is a real gimp later on in a pc's life....and it blows IMHO. 8) I agree that it is a silly system (the whole favoured class thing is - the only reason it is favoured is because it doesn't gimp characters.), but it is not as if it came out of ...

My understanding of petrification is that you can not move a muscle - which means no emoting apart from maybe *glares at the spellcaster* :-). I have heard some say that you can move your eyes but that is about it (of course if your eyelids are close you can not open them). From what I understand yo...

The test character for a dummy run is a good idea. It will allow your friend to get a feel for the place. However, make sure that they are happy ooc with their test character as it might end up becoming their main (that happened to me on EQ) Playing single player is also a good idea as others have s...

Level 20: +1 Ability -> Strength -> 20 I always thought that you didn't get a bonus ability point at 20 for some reason. Well I guess I will find out soon enough as my character should be hitting L20 fairly soon (hopefully!). Yo do get an ability point at level 20. Great - I remember seeing a chart...
