Re: RSVP for the Avlis Player Reunion!
Correction, I'll hop in ... in an hour. I tried, but some keys changed or maybe it's a plot thing, and I was stuck in the champion's courtyard, so I'll wait the hour and transfer. Why does the Elysia security team have to be so competent?

Re: RSVP for the Avlis Player Reunion!
Weird. I hadn't had a stray thought of Avlis in more than a year, then I started playing this new retro game with a lot of the same mechanics, and was reminded of Avlis, and... the very next day I got the reunion email. So that's coincidence for you. Got the old files working, so I'mma hop on in and...

Seriously, I like the new layout. Makes a lot of sense. Good work!

Re: 1.69 and Feats your Character Already Has
Oopsie. Nevermind.
Did some digging. Apparently the shifter route to dragon still works. Only the straight druid route was changed to require 18 druid levels instead of 15. So 10 shifter or 18 druid qualifies. Don't need both. Jwolaroth is still valid. Whew. Patch info was just unclear.

Re: 1.69 and Feats your Character Already Has
Jwolaroth. Apparently the people at Bioware think it makes sense for someone who can turn into a badger six times a day to learn to turn into a dragon, but not someone who turns into a manticore infinite times a day. Instead of fixing the bad description, they alter how the feat works to fit a bad d...

I resent this remark, monks don't do crack, we are way more disciplined and sophisticated than that and use amphetamines. You could be like barbarians and take HGH shots twice daily. :student: -> :saufen: -> :barb: now mages can polymorph and still be fast but a changling will be a slower fey. I do...

Yes and female models in the NWN tradition usually means, make it smaller, give it breasts and long hair, DUH, a biologists nightmare. They even gave female reptilians breasts so obviously someone there failed bio 101 in highschool. Just solve the problem by using male models for males and females....

Runs fine for me. I haven't had camera problems yet. The game can zoom out so far that you're in an isometric view like Baldur's Gate, and zoom in close enough to see if your character has something in their left nostril. As for camera controls, I just do what I did in NWN1: Click the middle mouse b...

This time I went for fewer placables to see if I could still make an interesting area, a tavern for misfits. Decided to mess with the lighting by making an interior antique/art shop with no windows. Used gold, blue, and red lights of varying intensity, each placed inside an object that looks like it could put off light, thanks to the ability to selectively make some objects not cast shadows. View from door...

As far as the lagging goes, I remember that NWN1 lagged a lot more in the toolset than it did in game. Hopefuly NWN2 is the same, so at least the game will run. It lags for me if I'm using a lot of animated effects, or if I have two or three 3d windows open at the same time (like when modeling and c...

I have an almost identical machine, and it does get laggy when you're doing something like the armor manipulations. That's where wizards woudl come in handy, as the thing wouldn't be redering multiple 3d windows at the same time. It doesn't lag at all when you're just looking at the main area screen...

My epic can't deal out damage for squat, but survives just fine due to excellent defenses. It's possible you don't see that strategy much on Avlis because of the ease of coming back to life. People aren't very afraid of dying so they design characters to be completely offensive and not defensive at ...

None of the stores that offer the code are in my town, so I just pre-ordered the game online a couple weeks ago. Figured I wouldn't get the toolset early but didn't feel like driving an hour (twice) just to do that. However, today the online website I ordered it from emailed me my pre-order code, ev...

Only source I've found is forums, but it's not very reliable (no Atari people have chimed in).neurotap wrote:

If I understand it right, if you pre-buy the regular version or one of the many different limited edition versions (they're different in every country), you do NOT get to download the toolset early. It's only certain special stores that offer it... the store that the Atari website links to not being...
