I think ashzz has a point.

Sure, NWN can and probably will stay alive for ages, barring outside influences. Sure, the supply of fresh blood might eventually dwindle. But IMHO, if NWN dies, it's more likely that it'll die because of NWN 2.0 than because of the Themicles Scenario.

Maybe for every 10 times you die you lose a point of Con, a skill point, or you move a little slower. Maybe your Cha should drop because of all the scars. I don't know. You don't scar from death blows, surely? I mean, if you get a scar from it then that means that your non-dead state comes from nat...

But of course - there is always the fear of being separated from the ones you love... So healthy respect and every intention to avoid it but no deeply rooted fear. But if, based on past experience, getting one's head cut off is just a temporary thing, then surely there would not even be the fear of...

Death and how people view it

Occurred to me on a sleepless night and too much caffeine. Question One: Do all people go to death planes and have the option to return? If so, this'd explain a lot of the magically-respawning NPCs. Question Two: If so, and if death is something that can be only temporary, then what does this mean f...

That's good. Does this mean that when you wear a cloak, it will actually show up on your character?

No - the downtime is due to the End of Century Bug.
You mean all the scribes will think that its 2000 instead of 2100, and civilisation will fall apart?

I was in Tower the other day (needed to be in Piccadilly to meet a friend anyway), and they had HotU there. I had to physically hold onto a railing to prevent myself from picking it up and buying it. After all, I only got SoU a few weeks ago (and that was just so I could play on Avlis), and my games...

Ideas for quests: (Bear in mind that my scripting knowledge tends towards zero, so I have no idea how implementable these are) 1) Visit every area in the game. 2) Have your alignment shift by a total of X points (on either axis), and then back again. 3) Get into some high-security area, go up to the...

I'd like to point out that Forian doctrinal disputes are an excellent idea. After all, consensus runs counter to his central doctrines. I don't think Aleister is a good example of Chaotic Neutral thinking, honestly. He's more TN, in my eyes. Crowley went around with a deliberate attitude of 'trying ...

I disagree. Surely being told to do something, anything, by anyone less than Forian his bad self runs counter to everything that Forianism stands for? I mean, it's supposed to be an ethos of Do As Thou Wilt. The influences of Grant Morrisson and Malaclypse the Younger seem to be falling over this pr...

how many people in reallife do you know that are evil? or are they just evil in your opinion? You don't know my housemates, do you? Then again, one must consider that by that standard, everyone who farmed the lizardmen would be very evil indeed (yes, I'm looking at YOU). A character who NEVER loote...

Elaborating on my earlier post:

I'd love to do that. The Fold sounds like the kind of insane, Grant Morrison-inspired project that I'd be willing to maim to be a part of.

On a different note, I'm moving my primary character, Aleksandros, out to Ferrell. Perhaps I'll see you there?

Forian =/= Eris

Forianism =/= Discordianism or Chaos Magic

Forianism seems much closer to the stuff in The Book of Lies, IMHO.

I find it difficult to play a non-human. I can bring myself to believe in elves, but I can't bring myself to believe that their thought processes are similar enough to ours that they can be played by a human. Same with dwarves: they're not just me with an accent and big boots, they're a wholly diffe...

Well, no, not a plan , more of a timetable . Entropy is, cosmically speaking, the bloke with the clipboard who comes round and looks at the plumbing and says, "well, yeah, it's working now, but it's a right bodge job, I dunno how long she'll hold for, it all breaks eventually." Forian, by contrast, ...

Entropy is itself a plan. Entropy says, "This isn't broken, but tomorrow, it might be." That's planning, dude.

A true Forianist would say, "This isn't broken." *SMASH* "NOW it's broken."

But entropy needs time to work over. There must have been a past where things weren't broken, and you need a future where things are more broken. This goes counter to the 'live-for-right-now' ethos.

I might take destruction anyway, just for munchkin reasons.

Forian

If so, can someone give me some friendly advice as a possible cleric of Forian? I mean, since Apathy, Confusion, Chaos and The Holy Chao aren't playable domains, which ones should I take?

Looking at Confounders, and playing around with various character builds. NWN doesn't want me to start off play as a Confounder. Does the Avlis server allow one to start the game as a prestige class, or should I start as something else and then multiclass to the Confounder? If so, what? Heeeeeeeeelp...

Sorry, have just reread and discovered that my initial reading of Confounders was entirely wrong. They are in fact lazy, mercenary layabouts. I may well play one, although the mercenary side of it doesn't really fit. (A fanatic doesn't demand money. He does what he does because God commands it, not ...

Welcome to Avlis. It really sounds like you understood Forian quite well indeed. Paladin's belong to Gorethar though and not just of the alignment. Look on the world information boards for info on holy warriors and you will find that Forian's holy warriors are called confounders. A custom Avlis pre...

Newbie Question II: The Newbie Strikes Back

Um... *coughs* Um, hi, I'm Abdul. I'm an experienced roleplayer, a (relative) AD&D newbie, and NWN virgin (that is, apart from playing through the main game). I'd like to play in Avlis, if you'll have me, and I have some questions. Lemme just explain a bit first. I have a character concept: shepherd...
