Although there are several servers that seem to have very few people on it. Everyone seems to head for Elysia, Mikona or Wilderness. If you look at LeOr, Ferrell, Deglos, Kuras and Visi they're usually empty, or have only 1-2 people on. Solution: Make incentives for people to head there, have DMs c...

... Frankly, I am the type that goes to the webpage to check the server levels before logging. I won't voluntarily go on servers with 30+ logged-in. The rubberbanding, and laggy conversations & spells are really irritating for me. .... The problems you talk about, many I do not see. Well, in a way,...

... I don't agree with your assumption that having hotspots makes a PW attain "mixed success." Your post doesn't address this, so my question is: why do you feel that hotspots are bad? I suppose the worst case example was seen in ALFA (A Land Far Away, another massive pw project that attempted to r...

Large nwn PW projects, and Exploding Monkeys!
Hey all you crazy Avlis party people! *warning: long, rambling post ahead* You know, I was thinking about Neverwinter Nights the other day, and I wanted to bounce some things off the Avlis community seeing as how you guys are one of the most knowledgable when it comes to large scale NWN pw projects....

The classes can be readily disabled for balance purposes... a few are anywhere from a bit to way overpowered and a handful are broken/bugged. (but they are working on em, afaik). Anyway, the majority seem to be pretty similar to the ones that shipped with the expansion packs. Most of em' are cool fo...

http://nwnprc.netgamers.co.uk/index1.html These guys are doing some great things... I know this hak will never see the light of day on Avlis or whatever, but there is no denying how awesome this project is. Download a mod and use this hak on it, it's a blast. Over 40 new prc's, 40 feats, and somethi...

Hey keikobad, I think the reason why cloudkill works is that the onenter script works fine, so the initial effect of the spell fires. In cloudkills case, the initial effect is a fort save or die and/or acid damage or what have you. I wouldn't be surprised if SOV caused the initial acid damage when c...

Oh for gawds sake: 'A mage will run out of spells'? I'm just guessing here, but I'd say that's why they do more damage then. More damage? say a mage can dish out 500 hitpoints of damage before he needs to rest. Say he can dish out 1000, 10,000 whatever. No matter how much damage a mage can dish out...

Regardless, the problem is that logic and reason aside a smart rogue/shadowdancer with the right equipment can kill monsters with little or no risk. Now, if you can come up with a better counter argument to my previous post than "this is a fantasy game", I'm all ears. Yes a smart rogue/shadowdancer...

If you don't believe me, try it. Light up a coleman lantern and try to hide from one of your buddies with the thing in your hand. see what happens. And again, try to cast a fireball on your budddies and see them laugh at your delusional state! Please! Comparing something like this with RL??? Regard...

It's a supernatual ablity. However it does not in any way, shape or form, change how well someone can hide. It won't make a SD undetectable, just allow them to enter stealth mode even though they're being watched. All the more reason to script a huge minus to hide and move silent if a character has...

Vanor I think he was talking about the PnP rules for HiPS. It requires a shadow within 10 ft if Wrath's post is correct. Yep :) It does require a shadow with in 10 ft of the SD, in order for them to use HiPS. However it does not say anything else. It makes no statement about entering said shadow, t...

One thing to consider... In PnP, in a dark cave with lots of shadows, a shadowdancer could do the exact same thing people using the "HiPS/sneak rinse wash repeat" tactic are doing here on Avlis. It only becomes "abusing the game engine" when people use the tactic against monsters that *should* be ab...

From a balance perspective, consider this: In PnP, an SD must be within 10 feet or so of a shadow to use HIPS (iirc). OK, so a lvl 1 mage, with the "light" cantrip, can defeat HiPS 100% of the time. Cast light on the sd and there' wont be any shadows within the SD's range for him to hide with. I kno...

Re: All Players Read This:
As you know the Avlis team has blocked access to all of the PrC's excet via quests that we are in the process of getting in. There are some PrC's that are never going to be offered in Avlis at all, as they do not fit in, such as Red Dragon Disciple and Champion of Torm. We have blocked said PrC's b...

Would you really exspect a paladin tzo throw sand in your eyes in combat.. sure, it helps him survive.. but I doupt his god would not ghave a few choice things to say about this. I talk ...

having a checkk.. nay... one wuld simpl try untill he was able to equip that Grandmaster Plate of Valor.... and then you'd have a lvl 1 char unkillable by lvl 1 monsters... :) Not that it's any of my business anymore, but technically no character should have that particular item, *especially* if it...

Having played on worlds with and without ILR, here is my opinion: If you are in a "high magic" environment, ILR is not just a good thing, it's an absolute necessity. I played on one world with a lot of high powered items (haste, immunities, etc.) and no ILR. You would see 1st level characters with A...

Read most of the posts here and just wanted to add a realistic opinion... In a war, grudges don't ever outweigh the possibility of gaining an advantage. If a leader of the opposing side offers to defect, he or she would be accepted with open arms regardless of past actions. Why? Said leader would ha...
