This might help: http://lua-users.org/wiki/TutorialDirectory
I remember starting on one or two of those myself, but in the end it cost too much time, which I didn't have at that time.

Small addition for the hasty or reckless clickers among us: should you have updated to 1.67 already, you can revert back to 1.66 and play Avlis again by following the instructions here: http://nwn.bioware.com/support/patch_revert_hotu.html

(Apologies to those folks that don't have access. The Avlis library is only available for team members and subcontractors, apply if you are interested.)

If you want them always lit when someone enters the area, I'd go for emitters. You only need to tie a script to the onenter event of the area that way, and not one to each placeable. If you want to turn them all on or off, and all individually too, I'd go for some light scripts I wrote for Avlis a l...

For those who desperately do want to try out the new patch goodies: duplicate your NWN installation, and update one of them.

Just running NWServer from the NWN folder should do it. You won't need the dedicated server if you've already got a full installation of NWN. If you want a DBase to run for persistency you'll also have to install NWNX2. Excellent information concerning installation and use are provided with the inst...

CD-keys are unique for each copy of the game. If CDkey number 3 is the same on both installations, then you must have installed it from the same copy of HotU. If you have bought two copies of HotU (or platinum edition, which will amount to the same thing) then you should have two different HotU CD-k...

FYI bards were never able to cast epic spells. This is not an Avlis modification, but part of Bioware's implementation as well. The manual, as so often seems to be the case with NWN, was wrong.

There's really only two things that will potentially mess up your custom content for Avlis:
1. Overwriting any Avlis/CoPaP custom content (haks and tlk file included)
2. Putting things in your override folder.

Steer clear of those and you should be fine.

No, it's still a persistent chest. Your stuff, stored safely, from everyone else on the server, beyond server resets. The difference with Avlis pchests is that Catara pchests are for sale at a merchant in the marketplace, where you can, and are even expected to get them yourself. So if your player h...

They have some pretty good ideas, and I've looked at most of them at one point or the other after a discussion about the PRC packs came up on copap.org. The sad truth is that most of their classes are too unbalanced to implement in our CoPaP PW settings. Not to mention that it would take an assload ...

500 gold - That's what I bought mine for on Catara. You bought a bag of holding, or you bought a hole? A portable persistent chest - About the same Deider described, but then with a load more inventory and no gold cost per item put in/removed. Also you can only put it down in suitable areas (most i...

Here's a hint: next time you reinstall, save your NWN.ini, your NWNplayer.ini and your NWNcdkeys.ini files on a secured backup location. Just copy them back once you've reinstalled and you're set. I think I would go mad if I had to redo all those options and key-mappings each time I reinstalled, so ...

Not 100% sure that this will bring the solution, but it is at least part of the problem: you're using internal IP addresses. If you give vaultster only the internal IP addy of a server, it will try to find it on your network, and of course not find it. Solution: Use global IP addresses and configure...

Note that if all the servers you're connecting are on the same LAN you won't need VaultSTER. Avlis had interconnected modules up before we had this technology come along. You will only need it if you are connecting to other systems/servers outside of your own LAN, in which case it indeed uses the TC...

Pirate? Not in NWN's case. Go to your NWN\docs\ folder and find perfectly legal versions of all three NWN manuals in pdf format. They are part of the default game installation.

The description fits exactly what would happen if you have a missing or corrupted ceptexture hak. This hak should be in your hak folder if you correctly installed CEP 1.52 (or lower; it was already in 1.0) and my version is 111 MB and is working correctly for me.

I think just plonking things like booze under the SelfHealing or SelfBuff talents isn't really going to cut it. As far as I can see atm there's no conceivable way to do this nicely. Maybe I'll come up with an ugly fix though. It's getting to be a very complicated problem, where I had initialy suspec...
