I just DLed the update from Darkfire's link, and it made a new NWmain.exe. It's all good now.

So I've got the no-update version of NWN...
And I can't remember how to revert back to the normal version so I can update. Clicking NWupdate.exe says NWN isn't installed (though it is, and runs just fine TYVM); running the old NWNmain.exe (the original version) runs NWN, but doesn't give me the prompt to update. Any ideas?

Whilst that thread is great for seeing the current system, my feeling is the future thread about, how many people capped out for the week under the new system and then felt they weren't supposed to travel with friends for the rest of the week is as relevant to the question of whether Avlis will be ...

For the most part Avlis has tightened rules, tightened quests, tightened loopholes over the years, I'd submit it's already harder to level up than you had it (for starters one can no longer elysia farm yourway to lvl 5), unless a newb has a veteran's body of knowledge of the most perfect routes and...

In fact, I'll even play devil's advocate. The cap's a bad idea because it creates a grind effect. If I, as a player, hit my 7,000 cap for the week, there's no reason whatsoever to do any adventuring; Why does everyone seem to think it'd be easy to hit 7,000 XP from crumping in a week? Yes, that's f...

I have a better idea on how to get rid of chronic powergamers. Every time a DM sees them powergaming, they lose 5 or 10 levels. Bang, problem solved. Hell yeah! Every DM should enforce their own personal arbitrary system of what consitutes "chronic powergaming" on all of us. If you dont like it, se...

Ditto. I think when you start trying to make code to deal with exploiters you get in a no win situation and just start chasing your tail. For every new rule you come up with or code you write, they will find a way around it, then you have to come up with yet another fucking rule, or another fucking ...

Creature Loot System - Creatures with the Commoner or Merchant factions no longer drop loot. Oh yeah, forgot to mention this. Either the farmers/Romini in Bachwood aren't commoner faction, or the above statement is false. I killed a group just to check, and they still drop the same loot - a tunic a...

Grace (L38) and Cait (L27) did the Warrens partied... they made exactly the same XP for everything - 1-3 for elites, and 13-18 for champions. Loot was nearly nonexistant - about 1 in 10, most of that gold. We found a few interesting items: an amulet with a bonus L7 Wiz spell (from a high priest), br...

Damage Resistance is of the "5/- Slashing" type that you are referring to. Whether it's 5/- Physical or /5- Piercing it's still considered Damage Resistance. This type of damage avoidance can be against any type of damage, and is very difficult to bypass. No, I'm talking about a flat 5/-. Effective...

I totally disagree. It's not about whether DR5 completely stops the damage or not, it's the cumulative effect. Lets compare the relative worth of +2 AC and DR5 We're talking damage resistance, not damage reduction . I fully agree that damage reduction 5/- is definitely worth a +2 bonus. Damage resi...

They put something similar in the Complete Warrior as a quality that can be added to armor; it's the equiv cost of a +2 bonus for each type or resistance you want. I can't tell you if this is balanced or unbalanced; nobody's ever wanted armor with this quality in any game I've played or run. What a...

For anyone who cares: Near as I can tell, they came up with some prices, then divided them by 5 for NWN purposes, since gp value determines the minimum level you can be to use things, and limits prices at biomerchants (both buying and selling). So, PnP prices for damage resistance 5 against one type...

Obviously DR5/- vs Slashing is something you only get in 3rd edition, which NWN is based on. In 3.5 it might be 5/Slash - which stops bludgeoning and piercing, but not slashing. Are you playing 3.0 or 3.5 in PnP? Technically it should be resistance 5 vs. slashing, not DR 5/- slashing. I play 3.5. I...

I don't know why this is in Ask the Team, seems like it's more a Development or NWN General forum question. Maybe it is for a guild item? Not sure... No, just standard items... I didn't think to post this in NWN discussion. Anyway, the way to find this out is in the toolset. When you create the ite...

Question about magic item prices
I was just wondering... how much does resistance 5 vs. slashing, piercing, or bludgeoning cost as an enchantment? I want to make some PnP items with it, but it's not in the books.
Edit: And what about stuff like amulets of Will, that add a bonus to only one save?

Question about magic item prices
How much does DR 5/- vs. a given type (slashing, piercing, bludgeoning) cost? I want to make items like that for PnP, but I have no idea what they're worth.

What about plot weapons? I was sparring with another PC the other day, and he disarmed my plot sword, which ended up on the ground, thankfully. But, if an NPC monk disarms me, would my plot sword end up in his inventory, or on the ground? And if the server reset, would I get any disarmed weapons bac...

My two cents: casting a detect spell causes an initiative roll (or a Will save, I forget at least, it does for me) so that could be considered a semi-hostile act. And, according to the holy order PrCs, the detect effect is a 30-ft. radius - it's technically cast "on yourself" but it's an AoE spell. ...

My two cents (FWIW): The good: The graphics are gorgeous. Just... beautiful. Regional accents/dialects
I'm kinda curious... what kind of accent would a character from, say, Kuras or the Seven Cities have? Or conversely, what would someone from the south sound like if (s)he went north? Would they have any specific speech patterns (odd phrases, ways of saying things, etc.)?
