Is the Druid Class a "Divine Casting" Class?

PostAuthor: Star » Mon Nov 06, 2006 9:09 pm

This is the reason I ask;

Avlis Wiki wrote:Every even level, a champion progresses in his knowledge of magic as if having gained one level in his divine casting class(es). This progress is in terms of spell levels and spell slots available.

Having both Druid and Cleric Classes, I have noticed this holds true for Cleric, but Druid seems to not be affected by this.
I do have 2 Champion levels.

Yes Druids are divine casters.

However I'd say that the feature is working as intended as granting spell progression in two classes for the price of one seems overpowered to me.

I do have a couple of queries just to be sure that all is well.

Did you take Cleric levels before you took Druid Levels?
What was the split when you took your first Champion Level?
Were you given an option to choose which divine caster class you wanted to progress?

Thanks :)

She started as a Druid, and after an experience with a PC at the Lifestone, She went Cleric from then on. So, 1 Druid, then Cleric to 10, then Champion.

What was the split when you took your first Champion Level?

Druid lvl 1/Cleric lvl 10

Were you given an option to choose which divine caster class you wanted to progress?

Nope, not that I recall anyways. :?

It works on the Cleric portion, which is wonderful!
If it is intended to work only there, that's great.
I am just trying to clarify is all, and if it is not working as intended, then to let the right person know.

One strange thing...I seem to progess as a Cleric on the ODD levels (I did at lvl 1 and not on lvl 2 anyways).

Alright....

What is your WIS?
Current class distribution?
How many spells at each level do you have in each class?

Star is right about this one, which makes it partially my fault for making the wiki entry without actually testing this feature. It was indicated (or maybe only suggested) at some point that holy warriors would advance in all divine casting classes, but either this feature isn't working, or more likely, it has been intentionally scaled back due to how powerful that would be. I just tried test-building an even cleric6/druid6 multiclass, and upon obtaining two, four, six, and upwards of levels in Champion, only one of the spell lists advanced.

I'll edit the wiki now to reflect this. A few other holy warrior wiki pages indicate that the PrC gives spellcasting advancement in all divine casting classes, but I suspect that they too have been scaled back. All the other information for Champion progression on the wiki should be accurate.

Sorry for not being a Team member and posting this, but I can't think of anyone else off the top of my head who tested out the Champion PrC when they were all being re-written. -J

Just to Clarify,
I will continue to advance in just Cleric?
It does not go "Back and Forth" from Cleric to Druid?

Thanks for all your feedback.

Star: could you please open a bug report about this, assign it to me and I'll take a look when I get home :)

To clarify: only one divine class will advance, not the two back and forth. Star will continue to advance as a cleric. Even in the case of an even multiclass such as Cleric6/Druid6, only one will advance. This I'm sure of, as I just pushed my test subject all the way up to level 40 (wow  ) and it seems to hold true. I've just finished retesting all the features on the wiki, so everything should be accurate to the IG implementation now. The only thing I'm not positive about Smite abilities, which were acting a bit unusual during testing. -J

EDIT: The feature for divine spell progression works as intended at present.

All references to dual divine progressions are outdated and incorrect.

Any idea which class will receive the spell progression in a case like this? Highest level? First taken? Last taken?

The class with the highest level will gain additional advancement.
