I play one, the noble Gallix Harroway, defender of the weak.

Heh, one character, since March (except a kobold I played breifly who died in the 90-day clean-up waiting for the character generator system to come on-line). And despite playing almost every day, he's still level 9.

I have two characters, and at a single time, one is always getting the Lion share of my time. This alternates back and forth every few months or so.

I have two...

Arena Helerin, level 14 bard and performer extraordinaire

A character (level 1) who will remain nameless that is trapped in Le'Or :D

I have concepts for two (possibly three) others, but Arena takes up all my time.

2 real characters, one which is the predominant. I'll let you guesss which one.. :P

2 test custom race characters trapped in Le'Or, maybe I'll keep playing them a little here and there, since the character concepts were intruiging

Two characters, levels 7 & 3, respectively. Neither have gained any levels since I became a DM, but somehow I don't really mind.

Lots of other ideas for PCs, but I use them as NPCs for long plots or one-day adventures.

I play 3.

Gunsel Highbinder. Human. Main squeeze. I spend most of my time with him.

Kallikantzaroi Ixionidae. Centaur. More crafter than adventurer. Though he's evolving.

Grog. 1/2 orc. All drunk all the time. I play him when I'm drinkin' heavily myself. He likes wine. I like bourbon.

A few others. Never stuck. Gone in 90 days.

Tanmar Stronghammer - 20th cleric
Grag Grelkoos, Jr. - 14th fighter (my first Avlis character)
Kentir Onaunus - 12th rogue (second Avlis character)
Mirriam Hille - 9th fighter (HALFLING TANK!)
Seril Aloufin - 5th wizard

Tanmar usually takes up 90-95% of my time, but he's on hiatus for RP reasons, so my other characters have been getting more love recently. Mirriam has recently come to the fore, since it's damn fun to play this cute little halfling as a no-nonsense, platemail-wearing warrior!

I play only one, but would love to try out others if I could only give up sleep entirely--I have at least three ideas in mind... *sighs*

Two characters....

Sand, a friendly, charming elven chap who wouldn't hurt a fly unless it got in his way, has a penchant for overkill and experimentation... a 12th level warlock (not wizard! dammit!)

Satin, a shy elf girl who grew up an orphan in the Mikonan slums, survived by staying in the shadows there, who is far too curious for it to be healthy but too shy to do anything with the knowledge she finds.. 11th level rogue/ranger

I'm finding I can't play them both equally, I get in the mood for one or the other, usually Sand these past few months.

There's a whole bunch of others who I'm waiting to be gobbled up, characters that didn't define themselves clearly enough at outset, or who I could see were going to be problematic (not fun for others to be around). Sand changed a lot because of the latter.

A lot of what makes a character last for me is who they meet. If in the first couple of levels (i.e. first few weeks of being played) they meet some people and "click", and things go well, then there's a reason for me to log in with that character again, to meet up again and continue to RP. Sand is notoriously gregarious. Satin isn't, so she doesn't meet as many people.

For me to make another character though I'd have to retire one of those two, I don't think I have the time to play two properly, and three would be impossible.

I rarely play, but I do login every once in a while to keep my chars :D

Tal Tylnend, lvl 9 druid (10 months or so old)
Wulf Blackmane, lvl 4 fighter/lvl 4 rogue (8 months or so old)

A hard poll. I have two characters, but play only one at a time. A few weeks one of them, a few weeks the second then switch again. At least I hope to switch again, its been long since I really gave Este some of my attention.

Well, I used to have one main, three alts, all in varying levels of psychological dysfunction, but now I've scaled that back to one main, and one alt.

Syrin Aerach (Ranger/Rogue) & V'heress (Diviner)

Every now and then I log my Centaur Nathan in, but have only managed to have one interesting encounter. *Sigh*

Unfortunately, Syrin is boring and V'heress has evolved into something his stats do not support. So, the number might soon reduce to 0 until I get the guts to start a new one.

Sydney Losstarot lvl 10(takes most of my time)
Morgoth the Crimson Blade lvl 9(play him once in awhile but not very often)
Bloodlust! Hatred! Greed! They melt with Divine Magic and twist my very Soul! It burns!!
It burns like Fire in my veins! And that Fire shall consume all that oppose me!
