Avlis server down?

PostAuthor: Calzier » Fri Dec 18, 2009 10:36 am

Down again? (10.30 GMT Friday)?... Is it just me, or does the server not like GMT mornings..?

I hate GMT mornings, but only cos I live in that time zone and I'm not a morning person!

See your point though...servers down and I need an RP fix...stat!

Mikona and Wilds seem to have been put up
...

Edit: spoke too soon they went down again

If you're watching this thread and you see them go up again in GS, give them 10 minutes to do their thing and start up, I think osmeone mightve crashed them logging in early

Oh, if anyone needs the info, they servers were all down when I tried logging in at 8:30 GMT. No idea how long before that they actually stopped responding.

Status update: Tried to bring things back up twice this morning and it fell over right in the middle of that. At this point I'm suspecting a PSU fault. I'm going to hit Best Buy sometime this morning for a replacement.

Apologies, but we're going to be down for at least another 90min to 2hours.

Don't forget to sacrifice another un-needed part from an old machine to the Gods of Technology. Without the proper offering they will smite you down!

Trust me, I learned this the hard way recently

won't work. You need to cut yourself somehow on the chassis. Best done while intoning the chant of "Blood for the blood god!" Khorne is hungry...

Thus it was spoken, and thus FOIG, Inc. discovered the part that was wanton was no Best Buy object. Lowe! They were to discover the truth. In the darkness of the ice space the RAID card spoke out and told of a light beckoning, and impending darkness. Such was the manner of things when PJ worked another, older, magic on the motherboard. Once again did the RAID card breathe its smoky breath in the room of ice, and so a piece of time was granted unto PJ and the Beast.

Heh.

Anyway... something's deeply unhappy. This is going to take a bit longer unfortunately. Sadly I do not have an ETA.

You should thank Twiggy, he and one other that I can't quite remember originally made the module years ago. I merely took on further development of it after went went public.

Still no joy.

Seems that some part of ESXi got corrupted. This is causing some of our VM's to launch in a state bad enough to cause problems with the Hypervisor. On top of this VMware's (free) tools really suck w.r.t. disaster recovery.

This plus some other annoyances pretty much means I'm going to rearchitect our virtualization strategy, probably 64-bit Linux + VMware server.

err...can someone tell me what this means in English?

My improvised translation doesn't go farther than "you're shit out of luck guys for the time being" but I'd be happily proven wrong on this count.

It means don't expect us to be back for at least 3ish more hours, possibly a bit longer :(

Serious technical problem here.
