#Avlis mIRC!

PostAuthor: amusedapathy » Fri Jan 09, 2009 5:03 am

you can download a number of IRC clients... the most popular are mIRC, xChat, and IceChat, though the Trillian IM program will also let you connect to IRC servers.

When you get the IRC software, connect to:
stratics.frws.com
or
irc.glowfish.de
on port 6667

after you connect, type /j #avlis in the chatbar and you'll be in the main Avlis IRC room. In there you can ask around for a DM. :)

However, if you would prefer something a little more recent like Discord feel free to check out http://www.avlis.org/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=134752&p=1401446.

I use turboIRC. So far it's the only decent free one I've come by

#avlis is much friendlier than it was in the past. We mostly keep the weirdos locked away in the #avlis2 chatroom.

and if you're on the road, or behind a firewall that doesn't allow IRC, you can use mibbit.com

Fastest way to join #avlis is to use this handy link:

http://tinyurl.com/chat-on-avlis

Click link, enter your nickname (including password if you have already registered your nick within IRC. If you don't know what that means, leave the password field blank), hit enter, and you're chatting with the fine folks of #avlis.

No downloading, no fiddly configurations or anything. And no excuse left not to go there! :)

Thanks Jolly, that's exactly what I needed.

Figured this could use a bump with new folks around these days. 8-)

Many people using this these days? Always used to be crowded but after a couple of years absence I just downloaded mIRC for my current computer and it seems empty today.

It still gets pretty jumpin' at times. During hours when a lot of people are working/busy in the most represented timezones it can be a little quiet. I've logged far more hours in #avlis than avlis.

45ish there now, and most I know do talk fairly regularly too. Lots of people do more talking in other private rooms like guild or staff stuff, and lots of pm conversations, but the room itself does see quite a bit of action too. Saying the word boobies tends to get things going fast. :P

*never said it was useful conversation*

Wow, according to the old old one, I was way too active and Snow was my chat buddy! Time to fly to Greece and give him a visit.
