Just a question...

PostAuthor: DeadEyeDave » Fri Mar 25, 2011 2:32 am

Hey errbody! So, from a very casual player, what is the expected lifespan of Avlis? I think a little piece of me would die if I tried to log in one day and it wasn't there. So, no bullshit, how long do you think Avlis will be around? Will it end when Bioware stops supporting nwn?
Bad poetry?

So long as our donations pool does not dry up, I'd say yes! And yes, I'm serious! :good:

Bioware stopped supporting NWN some time ago. We're still here :D

Even if the master server went, we should be able to find a way to keep it alive. Like he said, as long as people keep playing and paying to keep the lights on, we should be here. Looking at this: I see about 6 months paid in advance we have in the bank, and that doesn't count the regular subscriptions. We haven't had to "ask" for help in the form of a donation drive for a very long time, which is good, but I don't see the surplus growing atm either. *Is using the "we" word a lot here, and means that as a player, not in any sort of team sense...*

New stuff is always being developed for nwn to this day. New nwnx plugins (a new one is out that I really want to mess with), new tilesets, new scripting and even funky new graphics that try to take advantage of the better machines the game is run on.

Check out the NWNCQ stuff if you haven't already Different people like it to different degrees. I personally think the grass is too high in some areas, but it is a huge change. My crappy machine can't really even run it without the shader, and I haven't tried with it, but I did take a few screenshots around Mikona using it a while back. I had some of the Market too, but forgot to upload them. Even with my crappy vid card and no shader, it was pretty spiffy. If/when I can run it properly, I'd be diving into improving it too. I'm kinda crazy that way, and like to make stuff I like better, even if I have no clue how at the start. X:|
