Re: NWN Enhanced Edition Notes and Discussion

Choose wisely, and no you can't have pink bunny ears on your pony! :eg: *edits* That may be a lie with the model customization stuff they are talking about. It already has per part coloring, and some other fun stuff on the way, like model scaling. Adding bunny ears to things might be easy one day. ...

Re: NWN Enhanced Edition Notes and Discussion

If you haven't been keeping up with the weekly EE streams and updates , there's a lot changing every week (and breaking :P ). The Beamdog forums are horrible for navigating and tracking things (and even searching sucks), so it is hard to follow the multiple posts and topics for all the requests and ...

Re: Avlis Extention Haks - Everyone please read!

Everyone will already have at least the avlis_ext_1.hak - avlis_ext_4.hak, since you couldn't log in without them. The other 5-9 haks were in the original set, but are only being fully implemented now (on or after Dec 23rd). The Avlis Extension Haks on the Needed Files wiki page all contain the full...

Re: NWN Enhanced Edition Notes and Discussion

Wasn't the last post you made here (that you deleted) saying people are too fixated on that $20, after still miss-reading PJ's: There are valid concerns beyond not willing to part with $20. How about letting things sort themselves out for a little while, and at least see what is doable, before stirr...

Re: NWN Enhanced Edition Notes and Discussion

I also asked what happens during a MS outage. In Classic NWN there's a server flag to ignore it. Would not surprise me in the least if they left that one out. Either way, if they won't commit to letting PW's manage their own authentication then I very strong advise against using NWN:EE for PW purpo...

Re: Beamdog Announces NWN Enhanced Edition

Not sure if this was my mistake but I installed the Head Start version on my MacBook yesterday and when I tried to install it on my Windows laptop I had to purchase it again. Not a huge problem at $20 a go but the original NWN allowed me to install over and over again. Needless to say I would not b...

Re: NWN Enhanced Edition Notes and Discussion

I'd blame Windows more for that than the toolset. Possibly from the NTFS 8.3 filename creation on files for old school compatibility, when there are a bunch of files with similar names (the first 6 or more characters the same). 32-bit apps seems to be worse at this than 64-bit too. :( With the NWNTX...

Re: NWN Enhanced Edition Notes and Discussion

An FYI for those downloading the head start version with the Beamdog client. It is a peer sharing thing, so you upload to others as fast as you download, and it is pretty slow ATM. Block UDP port 6889 out (local and remote) while allowing in for it, and you get faster downloads without the outbound ...

Re: NWN Enhanced Edition Notes and Discussion

As I mentioned in the other topic, be aware that this will not work on Avlis.

The server and all clients need to be running the new version (meaning all current versions would stop working). :(

Re: Beamdog Announces NWN Enhanced Edition

After some chat in IRC, I'll add this. To be clear, do not rush out and pre-order this, expecting to log in here with it and play. It doesn't work with regular servers (like Avlis). Whether we upgrade or not is an all or nothing thing, since everyone will need the new game to play if we do. T...

Re: Beamdog Announces NWN Enhanced Edition

There was a lot discussed in the stream, and there's more on the forum. The new site page is still a bit bare (only a few hours old), but the forum and faq are there, with some interesting info, as well as the release notes pdf . All worth a look. It won't be changing existing content, since that wo...

At least there looks like some nice news for 4k screens soon with the enhanced edition (and mac/linux users). Live stream announcement in 10 hours on twitch!

Gonna be pre-ordering that one, yup. :jump2:

Re: Beamdog Announces NWN Enhanced Edition

I think the PR department is gonna be getting busy soon. :P

Sounds great, though I can only imagine what it'll do to all the stuff folks use as overrides. In any case, I won't mind redoing anything, if it has better stuff under the hood.

Re: NWN glitching on GTX 1070/1080

Had a few reports in IRC from lower end card users that had similar problems with the latest update. I have Windows 10 set to not update drivers unless I do it myself (thankfully), which is something I'd recommend for anyone here, using such an old game. Many devices have their own checks for update...

Our wiki needs updating, but every game automatically has proper keys when you check them after buying it from GOG. They started doing that last year or so, and it makes life much easier.

There's a saying about spending some time in someone else's shoes, before you can know what it is really like for them.

It's easy to be a couch quarterback or backseat driver, until you try on even one of the many shoes of someone who keeps things working here.

So yeah, +100 to that rave. :D

Re: Windows 10 update WTF? : Some of my experiences and workarounds with Windows 10. Re: Timing Out While Direct Connecting

Yup, Windows is annoying if you installed to the default 'Program Files (x86)' directory too. I avoid installing to protected folders for most older stuff. Plain old Programs or Games folders skip a lot of hassles. *edits* Some linkage about what krackq was saying, and running as admin to edit .ini ...
