Keeping Entertained Whilst Staying At Home!

Post by Dirigible » Tue Mar 24, 2020 12:36 pm

Firstly - I hope you are all doing okay out there. There is a variety of different rules and guidelines right now for everyone, but the general gist is more of us are at home than ever.

I thought it'd be great to share some of our favourite things to stay entertained and sane, beyond playing NWN of course! I'm even planning on doing a D&D oneshot with my boyfriend. All you DMs wish me luck!

I love reading webcomics especially fantasy ones that have a different take on things - I've given a link to the first page of each of these, so you can just kick off with the story. These all have hundreds of pages (hours of reading!) but be warned, they aren't finished yet, all the ones below have regular release schedules and have been going for years.

I'd really recommend the following:

DUNGEONS & DRAWINGS - http://www.dungeonsanddrawings.com/

Not a comic per se, but ever wondered what the creatures we fight in NWN look like? Wonder no more, as these two artists work their way through the creature manual, rediscovering old monsters and making them look amazing! Great inspiration if you play P&P D&D as well. They've been doing this since 2009 so there are a lot of monsters.

KILL SIX BILLION DEMONS https://killsixbilliondemons.com/comic/ ... chapter-1/

A normal woman is transported to another world and must master her newfound power to rescue her 'boyfriend' - think you've heard this story before? Think again! This story is full of golem angels who know kung fu, insect swordmen, self-appointed despot gods, all in a gritty, dirty, beautifully colourful world. The world building is just supreme.

UNSOUNDED http://www.casualvillain.com/Unsounded/ ... 01_01.html
A young thief leads a blackmailed mage into more trouble than she can imagine, in a world where old gods lie silent and two nations gear up for war.

GUNNERKRIGG COURT
- https://www.gunnerkrigg.com/?p=1
A young girl is taken to a mysterious technological school that borders a magical forest. Magic and science clash while the Court and Coyote negociate, while Carver just wants to make friends her own age for once. Deceptively slow-moving, everything contributes to the heartwarming story.

NECROPOLIS - https://necropoliscomic.tumblr.com/post ... 1/prologue
A girl takes justice into her own hands in bandit ridden lands and attracts the attention of the royal court. Will the bargain she made for power come back to haunt her? Fair warning this is a short one, but the comic is just so darn well drawn and inked.

Hope you enjoy as much as I have. Please share your recommendations and maybe why you like those things so much!

Stay safe friends!
Sing for your supper.

If you are needing some unplugged entertainment, Liz Climo made an adorable free coloring book to print out.

COLOR

There is a Cthulhu one, too (in case you missed it on discord).

Stay safe, sane and healthy.

This site is always fun for random doodle time, too.

I have a 5 week old Son & a 3 year old daughter, so Avlis & Crafting is my escapism.

Also I am doing some homebrew writing over the last 8 months and I've been working on my maps using this program.

https://www.wonderdraft.net/

Just finished the world map and half way done on the 1st Campaign map. I was thinking, loosely thinking of using the program to make Avlis ones, starting with M'Chek.

This weekend going to play D&D with Freya, in a basic child friendly format. I know she's young but I was going to use the dice rolls and help her with her number learning. She likes Elsa from Frozen and dressing up like her and she pretends to be Spiderman, so I think she get the concept of roleplay. So I can do a small Frozen D&D game.

By the way, I really do mean this. I really hope you all stay safe and healthy during this world event and the Avlis Community is the best place for those who need some escapism, to get together IG and roleplay.

Be safe everyone!

I know if I was on the battlefield and I got hit by a pile of shit... I'd probably go home.
