The World of Avlis

Hey there all. I was looking over the docs for NWNX, and realized I had next to no clue what most of the SQL functions were doing. Could somebody recommend me towards WHAT I should look for, in terms of books? Should I look for something on SQL, MySQL, generic database reference books, or something completely different? Hell, if you have a favorite title, I'd appreciate it.
