Avlis, the start of something.

Hell, I don't know if anyone here still remembers me. But this is still a post I've wanted to do regardless.
I'm a writer, now. I actually make a living writing fiction. I still can't believe it myself, some days. I owe Avlis a lot. Not love and marriage like some others, but I owe it, in some way, the ability to do what I love in life. For a long time, I didn't even realize that writing was that thing. Even if I didn't realize that I was pouring hundreds and thousands of hours into the thing I loved, that I was practicing, that was still what it was. I stubbornly clung to roleplaying even when I moved on from Avlis and started playing the great evil World of Warcraft because of the awesome experiences I had here. I kept practicing and refining and improving every day, all because of the start I got with Avlis. And I didn't even know it.
Now, over 10 years since I first set foot on Avlissian soil and started doing this thing, I've taken the next step. All the great people I met here, via Avlis, were the real starting point. All the great roleplayers that taught me so much about characters and good stories via simple interaction were the start. All the enemies, frenemies, friends and yes, loves, they all contributed.
So, thank you, Avlis. Thanks to all the players, DMs, creators, testers, donators and everyone else, past and present. I don't think I considered it much back then, and I'm not sure others did either. But we all, in some way, touched each other's lives. Mine, I realize 10 years later, very much for the better.
Thank you, Avlis. I may not play anymore, but I will never forget you or the friends I had here.
