A newbie like question

Ok now being the newbie I hope I have a couple of questions I can ask...without being dubbed seriously lacking of intelligence.. With that said..
Now is there a way to have the passwords enter themselves with out me having to type them in every time.? Meaning when we go to come into the server instead of typing said password in when we click to go in that it gets filled in...I know makes me seem tremendously LAZY...
And the next question is when I find I really like this world ....which isn't a question...since I find it vast and amazing already...Is it ever possible that one who isn't experienced to get on the team or become a dm in training such thing...And of course I do understand having to know the plots and such things which means getting a bunch of playing experience before ever becomming noticed for any such honor of TEAM member..BUT just putting it out there since I think it is something I would like to try and be considered for sometime in the future...
Signed The Newbie....

Check out ServerWatch, at
http://www.deepfriedsoftware.com for your shortcuts... I use it and love it.
As for Team members... playing is the training, and we suggest that yoiu wait at least 4-6 months before submitting an application. Jump in and get immersed in the lore, then get back to us!

For the passwordless startup I use Kyle Thorson's Neverwinter Nights launcher.
Download here ->
Link
You'll need to set up each of the servers, but after that you just double click the server you want to connect to and you're in.

I tried that DFS link and couldn't get a webpage, I think its been moved here:
http://www.dfsoftware.com/
As for my own use, I use the Avlis Side-Kick (ASK)
http://wiki.avlis.org/Needed_Files#Avlis_Side-Kick
That version requires some version of .NET, but if you have that version it is a great little app. Stores server names, port numbers, passwords and launches you straight into the server (skipping the splash-screens & multiplayer (server selection) screens. You launch, confirm your Bioware credentials and then see your Server Vault.
There is an older version of ASK that is batch files, which have much the same effect and work with all versions of Windows (AFAIK).

I use the "parselog lua" thingy with "shortcuts" on my desktop for each server.
just do a search for "lua" and you'll find the thread with all the info.

Create a text file in your NWN dir and name it Wilderness.bat. Then paste this in the file:
nwmain.exe +connect avlis.blackdagger.net:5122 +password *
You will need to replace the * with the password to the Wilderness server and you will also need create a file for each of the other servers. To do that, you will need to change the port # and password for each one.

Now is this supposed to help me log in to the server without typing in the password..? Because when I go in to multiplayer and select said server ie...elysia...double click and then still prompted for password.

Well yes, however with any of these you don't use the standard NWN icon anymore.
For ASK, there's a "Launch" button that you click and NWN loads and you go directly into the server (after the Bioware credentials & chosing your character)
For ServerWatch, there seemed to be "Join" button, though I think you have to register the software before that becomes available.
For the shortcuts, you "open" those and they run NWN.
That Kyle Thorson's program should be similar.
NWN never "stores" the passwords, its these other programs that do this. So for each one you have to get some configuration done before they'll do what you want them to do.

Registration is not required for ServerWatch...
You have to put the password in once per server, in the setup for each server. The Join button becomes available when you properly set up each server.
From memory: You need to select the application you're using from the list (NWN), the server address, the port number, point to the application's exe file (in the NWN install directory) and supply the password.

Step by step for ServerWatch
Example concerns Mikona but all server ports can be found
here
* Press New
* Select "Neverwinter Nights" under Server Type
* Under Server Name add Mikona
* Under Adress add avlis.blackdagger.net
* Under Port add 5121 (This one is different for each server. See link above for the server of your choice)
* Press Apply
"Mikona" should now show up in the left list
* Double-click to open up the option list
* Press Join
In the right window you should now see the rows Application and Password.
* Double-click on Application and find NWNmain.exe and select it.
* Under Password simply add Mikona's password (or the server of your choice)
* Press Apply
All done. To join the server simply go the Join option and press Join.
No registration required.

You can also rightclick on the icon in your systray and choose Join, once you've got it all set up.

Thanks PoD!

Hey, neat. Wasn't aware that you could do that.
The requirement to be able to do that though is to check the box Monitor next to "Server Name".
