Regarding monsters and NPC's that disarm.

Hey.
I just experienced a Disarm on one of my characters, and for some reason my weapon didn't drop on the ground. And as result, I couldn't hurt the badass I was fighting. (Furthermore, the companion I was with crashed, and is atm unable to get back in)
Should the weapon not be dropped on the ground?
Or does the opponent (in this case the beast) "steal" it until you kill it?

If the PC or NPC initiating the Disarm has the Improved Disarm Feat and is unarmed, the weapon is unequipped and taken into their inventory, rather than dropped to the ground.

This is a question on game mechanics. It should be in the General Discussions forum. Could someone please move it?

Yikes I never knew that. I assume that it will be kept in their inventory so if you kill them you can get it back again?

Is that new? A couple of months ago, my character was disarmed by an dm controled warrior mummy and my sword was on the ground. Maybe the mummy only has disarm?

You hope. And you still have to kill the thing somehow.

Heh. Nope. These guys fought unarmed, and obviously with improved disarm. Nasty biatches. I cried. A little bit. Not out loud, and only ooc.
And worst thing was, after it had taken my damn weapon I couldn't hurt the freak. How sux0r is that.

What about plot weapons? I was sparring with another PC the other day, and he disarmed my plot sword, which ended up on the ground, thankfully. But, if an NPC monk disarms me, would my plot sword end up in his inventory, or on the ground? And if the server reset, would I get any disarmed weapons back, or are they permanently gone?

If the disarming PC or NPC has the Improved Disarm feat and is
unarmed, your weapon will end up in their inventory.
If it's an NPC and you don't kill them, or leave the area and they despawn? Gone.

IMO, I think it would be more fair if NPC's only had regular disarm to avoid stuff like that. If the server was to reset during a regular fight, chances are that the last save point will have you with your item.
Secondly, there are to many factors like despawning, server crashing, resets etc... all things that will basically delete the item, taking away the IC chance that you had to get the item back.
and ouch, heh. Not being able to kill it afterwards, makes me want to make sure I have some back up weapons to hack anything that takes my first one.

Plot weapons are not protected from Disarm in any way and it would end up on the ground or in the NPC's inventory depending on if he had Disarm or Improved Disarm respectively.
The current policy is that we don't restore single lost items but Plot items might get an exception, as they're not normally not supposed to disappear, but only if a DM is willing to take the time.

A while ago unarmed NPCs with the Improved Disarm feat were to be considered a bug because of the unfairness of it. Uncer certain circumstances the creature could despawn and your weapon would be gone forever. Quoting myself here, but hey, these are the only links i've found in public boards.

I remember that Jonezie had to remove the Improved Disarm feat from some crabs in Mikona when a player lost like three weapons to one of them.
