Elves have Walk Mode as well?

Is there a way for an Elven PC to use the normal "walk mode", that's normally on F2 (actually called Detect Mode) when you start with (for example) a Human? I know I can press Shift + mouse to let my PC move in walk mode, but I'd much rather use the ASDW keys to move, plus I don't want to run the last bit to transitions and such.
And walking in Hide mode is not a good option either.
Someone got good tips? Or just not possible?

If you're horrid at it, going stealth will work and people will be able to see you. Or just weigh yourself down with massive amounts of booty and loot.

Mapping the walk (forward) drive to the up arrow works for me. You just need to find a control you are comfortable with and set it in the game's control options.

go to Options -> Controls -> Change Key Settings
If you scroll down you will eventually get to 'Drive Mode Forward', just above 'Drive Mode Forward Run' (which is by default your 'W' key). Once you specify your 'Drive Mode Forward' you can use that instead of W (I use space) to walk slowly.
edit: aww, Vipact was first.

Thanks Vipact & Simius
Other solutions are still welcome, if there are any.

Mapping a Walk key is the best way to do this. *points at Simius*

Shift + click if you like to click to move will make you walk. You don't have to keep shift depressed the whole time, just hold it, click your destination and release.

I know that elves are always 'in' detect mode, but when you actively select detect mode (F2) doesn't your character walk?

Shift-Click and Detect/Stealth mode are vulnerable to lag and misclicks. A Walk key is by far the best solution.

Elves can't de-select Detect Mode, it's -always- on.

Mapped walk key to space bar a few weeks ago, haven't looked back. It's -that- good, and it can be that good for you too!

Yep, mapping a walk key is the best solution. I use the F key so that I have the ASDWF pattern. Space bar is a good one too.

Or whichever else you're comfortable with.

I have W set to walk, and space as Run. So I get fine control when using AWSD keys, and space which I hit with my thumb is just RUN! Aarrrrgggh!

w = run;
s = walk;
x = go back;
a = turn left;
d = turn right;
q = strafe left;
e = strafe right
= the hottest setup.

The optin is actually not even quickslottable for elves

Hehehe being a lefty (or actually ambidextrous) is great I use my arrow keys with right and my mouse left

I actually use the F key to walk. the reason being that the slight bump on the key makes it super easy to find without looking. *shrugs*

It is quickslottable, but of no use at all, since you can't turn it off anyway.
