Not able to log in

Okay, I have a problem. I'm not sure if it's just a gamespy problem, or a problem on my side.

Anyway. My gs name for avlis is peppermint303. I had a friend check his logs to confirm this. I have kept the same password for -ever- and never had to change it. I can remember switching between two gs names only leaving the password there and it worked fine.

Trying to log in to peppermint303 with that password doesn't work. It says "Invalid player name and/or password." I log in to some other account with which I used the -same password- as I did for peppermint303 and it works fine.

I even had a friend try the same thing on his computer and he got the same results. Another friend claims that when he tries to add the gs name to his buddy list it says there is no such name.

I have tried again and again with the password, varying case sensitive, as well as with the username. No luck.

So what I'm wondering is, did GS do some sort of thing where it whiped out the usernames of people who hadn't played in a while? I wasn't gone for that long. I know I don't play a lot but I still like to.

The other thing is, if I can't fix the above problem at all, I wonder if the Avlis Team could transfer just my one main character over to another working account for me?

Check Bioware's site for any info releases about Gamespy/Masterserver troubles, if not, your best bet is this: http://nwn.bioware.com/login/retrieve.html

I had the same happen just a few days ago. Just Create New Account and name it exactly the same as the one that disappeared, log into Avlis with that, and you'll have all your old characters still.

I played on Avlis a couple years ago but then went on hiatus for a good while. I now have all new accounts for the internet and not much idea of what the old ones were. Is it possible to get my character/s transfered to my new account?

I know the name of the characters were Necaradan Stormcleaver (paladin/fighter, OoG) and Dorn Bloodmist (fighter/something) I think the name of the account was Necaradan too.

No, sorry we cannot do this. You'll need to uncover your information (See post by Moredo above) to gain access the old accounts if you wish to play your old characters.

I can't recover the information because I know that my hotmail account from back then has been deleted. That means any of my other accounts such as gamespy which used that hotmail account are are also gone for good.

I suppose I already knew I'd have no chance to get my dudes back but can I have a compromise of sorts?

Am I allowed to recreate my old characters in my new account?

Can I assume having exactly the same names will cause problems?

I did spend ages coming up with their names, is it possible to make sure my old characters are deleted so I can use their proper names without fugly compromises like a double space in them or periods or something?

Re-creating old characters and pretending that they are the same characters from before, but starting over from level one is not allowed. The Team has been consistent on this.

One of the OOC reasons is that yes, there will be database problems. It's not just needing any old character's deleted from your account, but someone would have to manually locate all the entries for these characters in the database either alter or delete them.
