Greataxe and improved Crit

Hi, I hope I am putting this in the right forum...I have been playing for around 2 years now and i just noticed this...

My dwarf uses both longswords and greataxes. He has improved crit for each. Now when I equip a longsword on my character sheet I see the crit range is 17 to 20. Where its supposed to be. But when I equip a greataxe my crit range is unchanged at 19 to 20.

My question is why is it not at the 17 to 20 range where it should be?

Thanks,
Sears610

Isnt the crit range on a greataxe usually just 20?

so it has doubled to 19-20

Greataxe critical range is 20/x3
Longsword critical range is 19-20/x2

But boy when that Great Axe lands a Crit. it really hurts.

I just had to remove the Imp. Crit. Feat from some spawns cause even the 19-20 range was just causing too much pain.

Indeed it does, if you have never seen Cerryn land a solid hit lets go adventure a bit together. ((im guessing the reason the base threat range is only 20 is because a greataxe can really be devastating when it scores a crit))

the only PvP server I have been on, there was tons of greataxe half orcs. ouch. Those crits are huge, but as long as they didnt crit my face into three pieces, my paladin could beat them ^_^

Imp Crit + Keen Edge = lots-o-crits

On the general subject, thanks to CEP there's one-handed weapons with a x4 crit range. There's been some really nice crits when something rudely interrupted my mining, heh. ;)

Is there a max to these crit ranges?

If only you could take feats with those CEP weapons. =D

All would fear the gnomish dual light pick weapon master!

If you mean for weapons, it's x4.. which can be got to x5 by a weapon master.

For what roll something crits on, I think the limit is 12-20, for something that starts with an 18-20 range (which is the normal base max). 12-20 would be something like a level 7+ weaponmaster of the scimitar with improved crit in the weapon and keen cast on it. Yeah.. nasty. And lord help you if it was one of those halfling/gnome scimitar weaponmasters stacking the two-handed bonus on top of that range.

It's all about the Dwarven Waraxe Weaponmaster. Rawr.

Rapier: crit range: 18-20
Rapier & improved critical: 15-20
Rapier & improved critical & Keen Edge: 12-20
Rapier & improved critical & Keen Edge & level 7 Weapon Master: 10-20

Note that the critical threat only happens if you can hit the critter. If you have a threat range of 10 - 20, only the 20 is an automatic hit. The rest will score criticals if you pass the threat roll, but they won't be automatic hits.

In other words, if you have a base attack of +10, and a crit range of 10-20, attacking an AC 30 monster, rolling a 10 will not score an automatic hit; you'll just miss. In order to hit, you need to roll that natural 20; and to critically hit, you'll need to roll another natural 20 on the threat roll.

Hey now dont be giving out my secret. The only tough thing about using not so common weapons like my dwarven waraxe build is trying to find better versions of your weapons. You dont even know how long it took me to find a better then 1 runed weapon. It sure did suck not being able to hit anything that needed a 2 runed weapon. id love to see more people build characters with odd weapon builds cause thats the only way youll see any other good weapons then the normal weapons that every one uses.

If i was every to make another character i would consider a small weapon finesse/ dex build that has the x4 made x5 by a weapon master, with the highest levels in a being a caster.

A pity that most of the CEP weapons don't allow for weapon feats... I don't think that x5 double weapon build is possible with picks, as they don't allow for weapon feats.

How about a double-scythe-wielding wemic, heh.. can't they use one in each hand?

I thought all the cep weapons had Bioware base items, so if you wanted the weapon feat for a certain CEP weapon, you chose the base weapon which is shown in the weapon description.

not all of them..the maul for example..has a new base weapon type, so impossible to get the feats for it as it stands

No, the scythe is one handed for a wemic, but engine limitations mean we still cant use large weapons off handed (with the exception of a spear).
