The World of Avlis

Well I just joined up with Avlis. Got all the downloads, was ready to play when I realized I wasn't at 1.62 patch, which is, apparently, what I need to play. I used to have the original NWN but my ex took it with her when she left (&$%#@!). So I just recently bought the NWN Diamond box. I was all patched up at the 1.67 when I realized I couldn't play here. So I tried desperately to get un-patched down to 1.62. I downloaded the 1.62, which I finally found, and it wouldn't work because it said I couldn't have any of the expansions loaded. But I have to load the two expansions when I load the game, with the Diamond box, because it loads all of them. So I decided to start all over, and load the game w/o patching to see what patch it started at: 1.66. So I guess I have no choice but to wait for Avlis to upgrade to 1.67. *cries*

I'm playing another Sigil one instead, atm, whilst I await the upgrade, because I really want to play Avlis. This one's alright, and they did a pretty good job on Sigil. Just visited Ysgard...interesting. Visited Pandemonium, and did a job (at 1st lvl) assisting baatezu kill tanar'ri in the Blood War on the Plane of Infinite Portals. lol I just managed to get through that...

But I really want to play on Avlis. Unless someone can find me a way to get on... If not, then I'll wait.

1.66 is the version Avlis is running on

and you need both expansions installed

Avlis is at 1.66.

Now, if you've got plenty of space on your HD you can simply make a copy of the NWN folder then have the copy be at 1.67 and the original at 1.66.

Ill let someone else post the details because im dont know how to do it, but you can install 1.67 and then run a critical restore patch of some sort to take it back to 1.66.

So dont worry, but as i said i dont know how to do it, someone will chime in that does though, im sure.

Yep, Avlis running v1.66 but apparently it's different from the Diamond edition which is also 1.66.

So to access Avlis you can try to update to 1.67 and then follow the instructions and download the revert patch here: http://nwn.bioware.com/support/patch_revert_hotu.html

Can't you just run the 1.66 patch on the Diamond DVD? That is what I did, I think and have had no problems. It is on the DVD if you look for it... *goes to check* ... Ok - look for NWNEnglish1.66HotUUpdate on the DVD.

Ahhhhh ok. It must've been old information I got the 1.62 from. Thx, I'll give it a go.

It's was under the Player Application on the Avlis site. Under the list of information required to play Avlis it says you need NWN version 1.62. Needs to be updated then.
