i was wondering what exactly goes into what changes or modifies your ranged touch AC. Is it possible to give a formula that includes all the various things that change it.

Your touch AC is your normal AC without its armor bonus, shield bonus, or natural AC bonus:
Base + Stat Bonuses + Deflection Bonus + Dodge Bonus + AC from tumble (In NWN)
So, for example, a certain character has a normal AC of 32:
10 Base
+ 2 Leather Armor
+ 3 Armor Enhancement Bonus
+ 2 Large Shield
+ 1 Shield Enhancement Bonus
+ 6 DEX
+ 3 Natural AC Bonus
+ 2 Deflection Bonus
+ 1 Dodge Bonus
+ 2 Tumble
= 32 AC
Touch AC is less:
10 base
+6 DEX
+2 Deflection Bonus
+ 2 Tumble
+ 1 Dodge Bonus
= 21 AC
The difference is even more pronounced if you rely on heavy armor and/or a tower shield...ie/ Fighter types

Most if the time if you are not in combat you can forget your dex, dodge ac and tumble ac

Yep. If you are flatfooted, you lose all of that, which is a killer for DEX based characters. If you have Uncanny dodge, however (Class feat for rogues, assasins, shadowdancers, and barbarians), you keep your DEX bonus.

Ranged Touch Attacks are the cheese.
Try avoiding a ranged touch attack vs Entanglement, Confusion, or even Death. It's wonderful, because Ranged Touch Attacks have NO save. Your save is to avoid being touched...from far away...

That and with enough creatures on you, they will get a 20, eventually. You can have an AC of 65, and get snuffed out with no save. Trust me, I know *sighs*

What about spells like displacement, or invisibility that give concealment. Will concealments 50% help you avoid a ranged touch attack 50% of the time.

It should. No idea if it actually does in NWN.

I love ranged touch attacks, especially for the Harm spell...

Yeah, it works fine. This is about the only thing that helps my fighter/psion.

It's always great to have Protection from Alignment, a will save modifier 36+ and still get confused by a ranged touch attack.

heh.. builder's trick of last resort to make sure someone with l33t AC and immunities can't solo their spawns, I suppose... kind of 'cheap' I agree but I don't envy the spawn-makers' task of making things 'just hard enough' for like 'every' party.
