I have a good friend that just got NwN and is having problems getting it to run on her Voodoo3 machine. She gets black screened after the logo screens.

I'm not too much of an expert at diagnosing these kinda problems, especially with OpenGL, I'd probably be able to do it if I was there in person but it's a lot harder over the 'net. Does anyone have any sugggestions?

She's running on Windows 98, and a new video card is currently out of the question(lack of $$$).

If it is what i think it is (people on the NWN baords call it a "splash" screen) well they have had alot of people with that problem i know there is a thread on the official NWN baords over at bioware you may want to look at the tech help forums or other ones ill try to find the post and if i do i will give you a link

Same problem here... and that problem mainly relies in the fact that NWN does not support VooDoo Cards. It was bound to happen. I bought my VooDoo 5500 for a user friendly $300... 6 months later they went under. And ever since then more and more companies do not support VooDoos. Frigging Sucks. I am hunting down a GEFORCE 3 as we speak...

Well i do kno that the voodoo card company went out of buisness some time ago so the card doesnt have any supporters or something like that. Solution: Save up money and get a new card. Wish i could get a geforce3 :/

Well, my friend with the Voodoo3 ended up switching video cards before I could get her to try out drivers and other possible tweaks, but make sure you go down to http://www.voodoofiles.com and try some of the drivers there before shelling out more cash. Has the latest 3dfx drivers and a lot of 3rd party drivers and a messageboard there, maybe you'll get lucky.

Now she is using her son's Raedeon card and getting crashes.
