NWN Diamond Edition Without DVD In the Drive?

Hi,

As posted elsewhere on this forum, I have a Tablet PC. That means my DVD drive is a USB add on and I don't like having it connected all the time. Now, I have a virtual CD drive software and for all my other games I am able to burn the CD to a virtual drive and play with that "plugged in" instead.

Tried it with the NWN Diamond DVD yesterday (my first DVD effort with a virtual drive, rather than CD) and it didn't recognise the drive as being present. Bummer.

However I just saw a post on another thread which said something about with the latest version of NWN there is no need to have the CD in the drive? Can someone elaborate please?

Also, failing that, I have an old copy of NWN and of SoU on CD - if I stuck them into the virtual drive instead would that work?

All my versions are paid for and original and I am not doing anything underhand here - merely trying to run this software without having to have my external drive plugged in.

Thanks!
Blakey

Yes, that much is true - I no longer need the CD in the drive. Not sure if you can pull the same trick with DVD though.

It would seem not. Anyone with the DVD version have a solution to this?

Thanks

PLEASE run the NWNEnglish1.66HotUUpdate.exe program on the DVD. This will replace the defective nwmain.exe
file with the proper one.

If you do not do this, you will not be able to automatically update the game to the future 1.67 update, nor will you be able to roll back to a previous version. Some are already reporting instances of not being able to start the game.

You little beauty!! :-)

That update also means my DVD will work from inside the Virtual Drive now. Fan-blinking-tastic!

Many, many thanks!
