Items of freedom protection?

Does a item of freedom keep you free of the effects of spells that immobalize with a hand of force?
I don't agree with this, but, I think one thing should be changed: Freedom shouldn't give immunity to the "slow" effect after death.slave_of_emotions wrote:...shesh those items are given out alot, especialy taking under account that it just forces mages to use big hands instead of "hold" spells that would give them a will save. Freedom should be handlet as serious as immunity mind spells.
that means changing the death scripts rather than hooking a spell / item thoughKrator wrote:I don't agree with this, but, I think one thing should be changed: Freedom shouldn't give immunity to the "slow" effect after death.slave_of_emotions wrote:...shesh those items are given out alot, especialy taking under account that it just forces mages to use big hands instead of "hold" spells that would give them a will save. Items with the Freedom property are actually pretty rare on Avlis. Not as rare as mind immunity, but still hard to come by.slave_of_emotions wrote:...shesh those items are given out alot, especialy taking under account that it just forces mages to use big hands instead of "hold" spells that would give them a will save. Hang on a sec... are you saying that you don't get slowed due to encumberance (hmm.. is that the wordTharliss wrote:What's nice about them is that they aren't useful in just combat, but crafters love them as well. Ditto.Tharliss wrote:Items with the Freedom property are actually pretty rare on Avlis. What's nice about them is that they aren't useful in just combat, but crafters love them as well. Makes it much more manageable to walk around with 1000 pounds of Ore if you aren't slowed down to a crawl.
That is correct. You do not get slowed due to encumberance. However, you still can't "run", but you will walk at your normal speed.Dirk Cutlass wrote:Hang on a sec... are you saying that you don't get slowed due to encumberance (hmm.. is that the wordTharliss wrote:What's nice about them is that they aren't useful in just combat, but crafters love them as well. It should have no difference to movement rate due to weight-based encumberance
Should it

It is a powerful spell. I've never seen an item with it.
Aye, logically it shouldn't, but it does.Dirk Cutlass wrote:Hang on a sec... are you saying that you don't get slowed due to encumberance (hmm.. is that the wordwhatever)? Wouldn't think it should make a difference with respect to encumbrance, but it does. And yeah, items with Freedom are pretty rare, and very valuable because of their usefulness and rarity.Dirk Cutlass wrote:Hang on a sec... are you saying that you don't get slowed due to encumberance (hmm.. is that the wordTharliss wrote:What's nice about them is that they aren't useful in just combat, but crafters love them as well. As far as I am aware, it was just four characters.. and two of those I don't really see around regulary anymoreszabot wrote:I was under the impression that a ton of characters got some item with freedom after some little fairy war or something.
Or, what is even more ridiculous, encumbrance.Krator wrote:I don't agree with this, but, I think one thing should be changed: Freedom shouldn't give immunity to the "slow" effect after death.slave_of_emotions wrote:...shesh those items are given out alot, especialy taking under account that it just forces mages to use big hands instead of "hold" spells that would give them a will save. Being immune to prestige classes special attack shouldn't make something rare in and of itself. There has to be more reason than that the person can't be sneak attacked, knocked down, FoDed or whatever. It should only be items and spells that give someone a significant and over-powered advantage over all other characters (like boots of speed, the major damage resist belts, etc) that should be restricted and rare.croton wrote:I agree that Freedom items should be equally if not more rare than protection from mind.
The reason is that, in addition to all of the other benefits brought out above, it also makes you immune to the Assassin Death Attack. Now that 1.66 fixed protection from mind spells making you immune to the death attack, the Freedom items are pretty much it.
IMO an item that makes you totally immune to a prestige class should be as rare as immune knockdown, speed boots, etc.
