Texture and Lighting in NWN engine

Ok, as I continue to get lappy Avlis-capable for any trips, I've come across some interesting things. I've got a Sony TR5AP, and it is a bit underpowered for NWN; however, it is achievable. Here's what I found out about its wimpy integrated video card:
Someone wrote:Sony TR-series uses integrated graphics dubbed Extreme Graphics 2 (aka Montara) built into the the Intel 855GM chipset. It's a DirectX 8 capable graphics accelerator however, it lacks any hardware Transform [sic] and Lighting capabilities limiting some of its performance.
So here's my question, and I think the answer is yes: Does NWN use T&L? I've found a hack that will work on the laptop to simulate hardware T&L, and am just curious if it's worth downloading/installing. I'll still be running on minimum settings, but at least I'll be able to get my fix in...

BTW: Anyone else playing on a Sony TR?

EDIT: Thanks for the move!

Anyone? Krator? Gimlor? Surely someone knows the answer to this...

1st....I dont know the answer....

2nd: I'd be willing to bet a search on the bioware forums would net an answer quicker than waiting for one here...

I think NWN doesn't use it. But apart from that, I can tell that the notebook I use has the same graphics chipset, and NWN runs, albeit only at lowest settings.

Think it's only used for the shiny water. Maybe also for some of the reflective stuff like armour. T&L is now what we call pixel shaders, or something along those lines.

A bigger worry would be the support for OpenGL. NWN's is not a Direct3D game, so you need proper OpenGL support in your video device and its drivers. Either that or some sort of wrapper that converts instructions to Direct3D -- but that would then be as slow as molasses.
