Psionic Question

Bit new here and had a question about Psionics. I have checked the boards and the Wiki and have not found what I am looking for.

Questions:
1) How is the DC determined for a psionic power
2) How is the power rank of a power calculated (ie Wis -2)
3) How are power points calculated?

Thanx in advance for the help

This can best be asked in the monk/psion forum, but here are a few of your answers:

The psionic class is designed off the 2nd edition Dark Sun rules. The the DCs vary based on power, the more powerful the power, generally, the lower the DC. (Disintegration is 8+Con bonus + 1/2 psi level, for instance, where Contact is 12 + Wis Bonus + 1/2 psi level) Most of the are base + stat bonus + 1/2 psi level.

The power check is also dependent on powers. The more powerful the power, the more difficult it is to manifest, and the more expensive it is in PSPs. Some powers cost up to 75 PSP, and a failure results in payment of half the cost.

PSP is, I think, your Wis + Con Bonus + Int Bonus (don't know the actual formula, cause I took a feat for more PSP early on). Fuzz would know more.

Basically, the PSP is 10+10*psion-level with a bonus for high stats. The formula is:

PSP = (psion-level +1)*10 +(psion-level+1)*(WIS-15)+(CON-15)+(INT-15)+{bonuspoints-due-to-feats}.

As you can see, a high INT or CON gives a few bonus points, but only WIS has a real impact on your PSP, giving you (psion-level+1) extra PSP for every point over 15. Also note that stats under 15 do not give a minus to the PSP, so all the stat-parts of the formula have a minimum of 0.

Also note that there is a psion-feat that gives you 20 extra PSP, and that this feat can be taken up to five times. Probably not too useful for a full-blown psion, but for a multi-class it adds a significant percentage of PSP.

Hope this helps.

Mickey.
