After the upgrade to 1.66 my poor computer is running nwnmain.exe at 99-100% meaning movement is hellish and combat even worse  . Any ideas or input on what might create this would be grand.

On a sidenote I had similar problems last update and nothing I tried helped. At that time I also encountered being timed out on numerous occasions which does not seem to happen now.

At that time i tried alot to fix my troubles. Nothing seemed to help but one day it was just gone.

You think that Spyware might be responsible for our Housing Director working so hard?

If the boss is spying on him, he'd better be working hard ...

The little Imp is gone. I can now move freely and enjoy the killing of rare species. Glory Upon you all

Disappeared as unexpectedly as last time. No clue whatsoever what caused it.

a) PlasmaJohn's moustache
b) Snow
c) Wemics
d) Snow playing a wemic who has a moustache that looks like PlasmaJohn's moustache.

Take your pick :D

It's always Snow's fault. The bylaws mandate this. (see section 3a)

So what you are saying is that Snow works for Hewlett Packard designing the imps inside?

I sympathize. But keep in mind we all see sluggish game lag and such at times... I do have some things that can help to avoid bottle-necks in your online gaming:

1) Make sure you have everything else turned off. Do you have any programs that auto-open when you run windows like Quicktime, etc? One thing I do is open the task manager and shut down those extra tasks when I am playing online. You open windows task manager with pressing only once "<control>/<alt>/<del>, task list. shut down what you don't need then exit the manager.

2) Be sure you don't have a program that checks once every five minutes for an update to its software... hence clogging up the internet... this may take some time to look through each software pack you have installed.

3) Logging into NWN. Don't go through gamespy to connect to the game server. Even if you are on a cable modem, gamespy can take unexpected lag hits and freeze or crash you. Use LAN connection, direct connect, enter avlis.blackdagger.net:5xxx .... based on the proper port number and then enter the correct, case-sensative password. This alone has saved me some grief.

4) You really want to play and game enhancements don't matter? Turn down the video card to play in 800 by 600 pixels mode. Further, go to video options within the NWN game options (before entering a game) and turn down all the video settings and effects to basic (I even turn autoalliasing off or to double at most)... you can always gradually add them back in later if your bandwith use and CPU can handle it. Did you install all of the 16bit, 32bit, 64bit packs with the game? You should have a setting to set them ... I use 16bit when lag gets really bad but change this while online and you will get booted.

5) Do similiar ramping down for your sound options... set them to basically the lowest settings.

Hope that helps.
