NwN doing weird shit...

Gonna be brief but this is really starting to become a problem for me since it started out as doing it a few time but now does it more then 6-8 times a day.

1. Kicks me off the server...when I relog I get one of three possible outcomes:
1. I can relog without problems
2. NwN closes itself completely: I have three sub-outcomes
a) Restart NwN and can log in
b) Restart NwN and get the "CD key still in use"
c) Restart NwN and get the "Playername still in use"
3. I can't log in because of the "CD key" or "Player Name" thing.

Sub-outcomes b and c and outcome three leave me with two new options:
1. Pull out my internet connection and see if it works. Mostly it does but then I can encounter outcome 2 which makes me sometimes have to repeat the process
2. If nothing else works I have to restart my PC all over again. This luckily happens rarely.

Can you begin to see what kind off problem this poses to me? When it happened once or twice a day I could live with it but now...

Now I wanted to see if anybody know a solution to this...
Is it NwN or should I begin to kick my PC in a pile of smoking rubble and buy a new one?

Thanks in advance.

Yes , got the same thing happening to me ...usually locks up totally on entering the password OR after it just kicks me for no known reason when I try to re log ?

Not sure if it started after the last verision upgrade or if I just began noticing it more then....hoping next update may resolve issue or that it gets no worse....

It sounds like the CD Key or Playername just hasn't been released after you crash.

I might be wrong on this, but it sometimes takes time for your details to be registered as logged off and no longer in use. Before you are logged back in the system checks to see if the CD Key or Player is in use, if these haven't been handed back correctly then you will get this error message.

Waiting 5 minutes or so is enough for the details to be released - so that might be why you are noticing that if you drop the connection and re-connect or restart your machine you are able to connect.

If it takes a lot longer then 5 minutes to unlock your CD Key or it happens when you try to log on for the first time (not after a crash) then it is possible that your key has been duped some how. In the same way if you try to log in and your player is in use then someone might have found out your details and is using them - but these are both worse case scenarios.

Okay thx for the info, people!

Oh and it indeed takes more then five minutes sometimes but once I pull out my internet connection and plug it in that mostly solves that problem :? :)

The cd key in use is not such a problem if you try direct connect? Bypasses gamespy totally doesn't it? Now if there was a way around some of the newtilesets TOTALLY bogging down my rather high end ati video card....
