Avlis uses a server vault, so your character is stored on our servers rather than your local machine. Your character will still be there after you reinstall.

Unless you use the journal. That's a .txt file saved in your localvault.

And make sure you note down your gamespy username and password, especially if you use the remember password option. If you dont have those you wont be able to get your character from the server vault

Hey, journal is a .txt on the local machine!!!
Cheers for that PJ, a most helpful bit of info. No more editing (and losing) menus IG for one thing
For anyone interested, it's in NWN local vault directory, named after your character.

In order to use the journal, and save it, do I have to hit "Save" locally every time I make an entry to do this?

You can edit the journal either IG via the Journal Viewer/Tab three, or open the file when you are not playing NWN, with your favorite text program. If you do it the second way, then Yes you have to save it. The first is auto done for you by the NWN game.

It's ok. This question was in the wrong forum anyhow.
This was a question about playing NWN on a persistent world, and wasn't really about Avlis. Moved to NWN General Discussion.
