Spells that give you spell slots - a cruel joke?

My Druid can cast "Owl's Wisdom" and suddenly has exta (blank) spell slots at several levels.
However if I put spells in those blank slots and rest, the Owl's Wisdom fades and I lose the slots.
Is there any way to keep a buff active during a rest or get useful spells in there besides more +widom items / stats points?
Do potions of Owl's wisdom fade when resting too?

Your DRUID doesn't know she has more SLOTS... Just play the game

Yep, all stat buffing spells/potions will fade if you rest. What you can do however, is rest with stat raising item, such as periapt of wisdom. Then cast owl's insight, remove the said item, as you won't be needing it, and swap with more useful item such as lesser amulet of health.
And wisdom buff is great, as it can raise will save, raise skills such as spot, listen, heal. Give your party monk more AC etc. Especially Owl's insight, as high lvl druid can give +12 to wis.

The only ones that can actually use those bonus slots are the damn sorcerers and bards

Not the damn clerics?

So if a bard or sorcerer cast eagle's splendor raising charisma, they get an additional spell without resting? *makes note to take eagle's splendor at next level up*

One of the other great thing it does is raise the save difficulty numbers for all the spells that a druid or cleric casts, because higher wisdom = higher save difficulties.
Additionally, if you have a few bonus spell slots from items (which you can use if you rest with the item on), you can keep those spell slots from magically disappearing when you shapeshift by casting the appropriate stat enhancer upon yourself and then shapeshifting.

Exactly the same happens to wizards casting Fox Cunning

Unfortunately I haven't found the "cure" for it so far

No. Actually, it's even worse than that. Not only do not get the bonus slot upon casting the spell, you end up losing the slot you should have gotten when it wears off. Try drinking a charisman-raising potion for similar results.

Simple, travel with another mage that casts it on you, rest - and you still have the spell active with spell slots filled.

NO..you still have to rest to get the spells. And there is a problem with removing items after casting a bluff spell. The max you can raise your stat is +12. The system looks at items first so if you are close to +12 it will not count anything extra past that for the bluff. Its still there just not counted. You remove an item that would drop you under 12 and you loose slots or spells. But when you check your character sheet you have the stats, because it remebers the extra unused bluff points. I have tested this alot. *
and you all though he was just standing on the rock doing nothing
*
At one time you could have someone else bluff you and it would last thru your rest. I do not think that this is the case anymore, as I think it was fixed in one of the patches.

I am not sure what you are getting at unless I've missed something all this time.
As far as I know a cleric can only get extra spell slots that you can actually make use of by a Ring of Holiness or a Wisdom enhancing piece of equipment. Casting Owl's Wisdom and getting an extra slot will not work, because if you fill those slots they will disappear when you rest and try to make them usable.

Never played a cleric, or a sorc or bard for that matter, but I thought that you could use the extra spells given to you by a buff as long as you don't need to prepare spells. Wizards prepare spells, sorcs do not. I thought clerics don't prepare either.
Anyway, going by Alex's post it sounds like no one benefits.

Nope, I can throw on a Robe of Sorcery that adds slots, but I have to rest before they become 'active'.

Further, if you equip and unequip that robe several times you'll end losing all your slots of that level for that rest period. The game doesn't give you the bonus slot when you equip the item but it actually "uses" the slot when you unequip the item.

However, casting Owl's Wisdom on yourself has other benefits. Will saves being one of them...

Don't the spells, cast by someone else on you, dissapear as well, when you rest?
It would mean, these additional slots dissapear too, while resting...

Increasing your spellcasting statistic also affects Save DC's.

My record from casting while buffed and then losing all buffs is something like -67 psps. How low have you managed?

Around -50. Owl's insight, while a great spell, reeks havoc on math.
