Formulas for Max Hit Points

I don't know anything about the formulas in NwN, can someone tell me how you calculate the max hit points a character can have?

I have a lvl 9 character

Half-Elf

Con is 12

1 Level Fighter (the first level I think)
8 Levels of Druid

How would I figure out the max HP I could possibly have (I was told my HP seem too high).

1 level fighter on first level = 10
8 levels druid = max 64
9x1 from con = 9
10+64+9=83

If you have the toughness feat it would be 9 more.

92

why does this matter?

Because you can be accused of cancelling your levelup until you get max HP if your HP is "too high", or something.

A senior player said I had too many HP for my level, before I bothered a DM about it - I thought I would clarify if I was bugged or not - I thought I stated that in my first post.

Watch out, it's the hit point police...

People should stop whining so damn much! How do they know whether or not you're wearing any + Con items? Who cares what other players think....fek em. Tell em to take it up with a DM if they have a problem with you....

Just my .02

These things are all a mystery to me, just making sure my char was not corrupted or bugged - non-issue now.

If people want to complain that some people want to spend 30 extra minutes to get 2 more hp, let them. If someone whines to you, just ignore them, they'll stop eventually. :)

Actually canceling out for max hit points is against the rules, I think.

It is on the list of "bad" metagaming.

However, how another player would have any idea if you have too much hit points for your build it beyond me.

The character could have spent points on CON or just been lucky.

That might very well be, but I was just stating my opinion.

Actually it was one of the nicest players I have met in game so far. I am sure it was just an observation. It was definitely not any sort of accusation.

Well, I guess I'm in trouble. I've leveled twice so far, and got max hit points both times. I'm frickin' HUGE!

And no, I didn't cancel -- even once!

You get max hitpoints for your first three levels. It is only random from levels 4+

Don't you also get max hitpoints each time you take a first level in a new class? Or am I wrong about that?

No you don't. Your just lucky if you do on the first time around. :)

The formula per level broken down is HP Die + CON Modifier

So a fighter at level time with a +2 CON Mod would get:

10(HP) + 2(CON Mod) = 12

Toughness would add on :)

Try a dwarven mage high con and toughness, see how many people razz you about HP to high.

Also I remember reading that you always get at least half your base hit die on a level up roll.

That is true. You get the half base on level, so a wizard or sorc will never get 1 HP.
