I have my PC running behind a firewall router using a private IP address assigned by the router.
What do i need to do to be able to host an internet game

Your router must be configured so it routes traffic on port 5121 (default port) to your NWN machine. The difficulty of this depends on the router. I find that it's very easy to do with Linksys routers, and quite a bit harder on DLink equipment.
Once that's working, then have people connect to your outside IP address.

If you have trouble, let me know. I managed to walk another person through this once before, using the online manuals for their router. If you can't get it going, send me a PM with the manufacturer and model # of your router.

Yes, practice is always good. Especially if you have a goal.
One good place to get a starting lesson in how to work the DM client is NWConnections. They have regular training games for people interested in becoming DMs. You can also set up games there (and I think you can just pull some mods from NWVault) so you can practice your skizills.
And if you ever DM a game on a weekend and need more players.........
