Gamespy has very little to do with NWN except that they provided the code for BioWare to integrate into the game, and their browsers support NWN.

When this happens it is because BioWare's master/authorization server is down.

Usually when this happens, their website is down as well, but not always.

Does direct connecting not work?

Direct Connect should work.

Launch NWN normall, click Multiplayer, click OK and ignore any "cannot connect" errors that it may give.
Click Join LAN Game.
Click Direct Connect.

Enter the Server and password as prompted.

Mikona: avlis.blackdagger.net:5121
Wilderness: avlis.blackdagger.net:5122
Elysia: avlis.blackdagger.net:5123
Le'Or: avlis.blackdagger.net:5124
Deglos: avlis.blackdagger.net:5125
Ferrell: avlis.blackdagger.net:5126

DO NOT REQUEST OR POST PASSWORDS HERE! If you use a launcher or direct connect shortcuts, and have forgotten the passwords as a result, you can retrieve the password from the shortcut, or launcher config.

EDITED

In the case that Avlis' IP behind the avlis.blackdagger.net address changes, and your ISP's DNS servers don't update quick enough:

Do a Google search for "free public DNS servers" and try one of those. Most sites that list free DNS servers should have tutorials on how to change your DNS settings on your computer.

DISCLAIMER: You try this at your own risk. I take no responsibility for any mistakes that you make resulting in connectivity issues with domain names in general.

I just went to log on and I'm getting the same problem, but I can't get on to Hala or Rockhome either. Hala is using the IP address and still deosn't work (which doesn't make sense as it doesn't have anything to translate).

Please note that "Direct Connect" and Direct Connecting with a "Shortcut" are NOT the same. Please follow the Direct Connect instructions given in a previous post if you have not tried it yet.

Also note that Avlis' IP has NOT changed in some time. I was merely making an inferance based on gutemensch's comment.

Stand-alone Gamespy browsers (Like Arcade, and 3d), as well as ASE, fit under the category of "Launchers and Shortcuts" as they ALL use the same method launching the nwmain.exe.

gutemensch: Please make sure that the "Direct Connect" you are talking about is not "Direct Connect by Shortcut". Shortcuts will not work until BioWare's servers are back up.

ALL of BioWare's servers are down at the moment. No website, no update server, no Gamespy/Authorization server. The ONLY way around this is to use the Direct Connect instructions given above.

For confirmation on the information on the status of their servers, please see the news heading "BioWare Site Down" @ http://nwvault.ign.com/index2.shtml

Mmmm. "Cannot translate address", whether I use the launcher or direct connect manually. *shrug*

EDIT: Oooh now it works. Go figure...
