Greetings from an Avlis noobie... with a question.

Hello everyone! I'm new to Avlis. I'm in the process of making my character and a question has crossed my mind. After reading the History and stuff... I find myself most interested in making a character that is eventually a Champion (Holy Warrior). I'm curious as to which race would be most acceptable to the Order.

Elf? Half-Nymph? Human? How are these races accepted?

I really don't want to have to recreate over and over until I come up with the right combination.

My plans for this character are to start as a fighter... roleplay dedication, etc... perhaps give it a go as a weapon master... then committing as a Champion for all time after that.

Thanks in advance for any input!

Welcome to Avlis :)

Just to be clear... you're specifically asking about races and the Order of O'Ma?

That is correct... O'Ma would be my deity as I would eventually be a Champion of O'Ma... just curious which races are appropriate. I mean... would a Wemic really fit in? or should I stick to the faerie sort like O'Ma's realm would dictate?

An additional question... do Champions need wisdom for spells? do they even get them (other than those listed gained by level)... Paladins obviously need 14 wis to cast the max level of their spells, do Champions?

...and thank you for the welcome *grin*

AFAIK the spells from the Prestige Classes are more like feats than normal caster classes, so I doubt there are any prereqs besides the level in the PrC.

As for which race... I'm not a Team member nor a member of the Order of O'Ma, so although I would think it's fine to do anything you wish to roleplay (as long as it's not cheesing... that is, pretending something to gain a benefit of some kind, that the game engine cannot represent), best wait for an answer from one of them for anything official :)

My char was once on the path for becoming a champion.. before a few incidents :)

But... from the time that I spent with the order.. I learned that race has absolutly no value.
The only important thing is get the technical pre reqs and to RP big time in order to become one. Aslong as you understand and follow his teachings, and put them to use, you are good to go.

As for WIS.. I never got there, so no idea.. you'll have to ask someone else :)

on that topic ...

Well, the Order of O'ma might be a good place to look...

If you are rather talking about actually enabling the PrC in game, send an e-mail to staff@avlis.org with an explanation of your request.

O'Ma is a tolerant God, and any race can become Champions. There's no real bias towards any race in fact, though there have been a lot of humans involved in the Order of O'Ma. Wemics, orcs, halflings, gnomes, changelings - whatever, any race would be accepted provided they have the right devotion and intent.

To become a Holy Warrior PrC in Avlis, you need to join the appropriate Holy Order first. Thus, to be a Champion, you need to join the OoO. To be an Avenger, you need to join the Hands of Dru'El. To be a Blackguard, you need to join the Reavers. Etc.
