I'll go 4 gold. I never thought I'd be able out bid Zach 2:1.

Shop around and see what the vendors sell them for and undercut them. Pure capitolism. Good luck.

it all depends on what your selling, if nobody else knows about it, then double-triple your price, if plenty of people know about it and you got the item as a gift, sell it for about 3/4 to 7/8

While not completely on topic, i wonder how the prices actually
do got thought up. Someone found a sword +4 and asked 2 million, and ever since powerful items have been compared to the prices of those traded before? The relationship will influence this too. I understand why it would work this way, but then the same item might cost 500k less if the seller was in a good mood.
Since I keep hearing such high prices (for me at least at the moment), i have little idea how such prices come into existance. Last night a player told me a shopkeeper had got a very powerful shortsword (my weapon of choice) for 2.5 million. Besides thinking how many RL years that would take for me to gather

i wondered if there are vague guidelines, like +3 xxxk, +4 with elemental aura around xxxxk, etc.
Someone care to enlighten me? Thanks in advance.

Supply and demand *Grins*
The NPC merchants can't change thier prices as needed (well...they could, but I doubt the Team wants to do that much work and
-I- don't want them spending all tat time on BS when they could be spending that time making the world better or DMing an event

).
So it falls to the PC's to use the 'living' economy that the Team has created. If things are always high priced, it means there is a demand for what is being sought and very little demand (like the mystical Longsword +5 with Slay Evil DC-20). Those prices won't change.
As for things like a ShortSword +2 or something *shrugs* Depends on how bad the seller wants rid of it. Wieght and inventory spaces are usually the main concerns. Also, how much the player wants to play a merchant. I sure don't want to carry around half the world in my backpack looking for people to buy things

I may keep exceptional items, but then those
will be going for high prices
Just my .02

It seems to be simple, really...
Imagine yourself as the buyer and think of a number... if it makes your ass hurt, it's still too low...

Easy way to get a WAG (Wild Assed Guess) for magic effect items:
1) Find stores that sells them. Compare prices.
2) Find stores that sell scrolls that do the same thing. Multiply by charges. Compare prices.
3) Check the sell price to merchants. Sell for just a bit more to make a better deal @10%-15% imo.
4) Ask around what people would pay for them IG.
Trying to get a price in a forum setting is...difficult. With Rez, I'd not pay anything for a rod, but then, I play a cleric
To a pure fighter, this might be a good item (No UMD check on Rods iirc).
Based on what I've seen in game for scrolls (not seen a rez rod for sale), ir the rod has the normal 10 uses, I'd have to say it worth somewhere in the neighborhood of 50,000gp or so. Good luck getting that though

In my experience, a PC merchant usually will charge as much as he can get away with and characters with an excess of money will help this system to stay forever. It's almost as real life, that's why it sucks so bad.

sell it for as much as you can get away with !
Auctions are usually fun too.
Or you can just donate it to a worthwhile cause .... you know, someone who regularly raises fallen commoners and the like, someone who always seems to be low on raise dead scrolls, someone you know will use it wisely. Can't think of anyone offhand .... but I'll let you worry about that.
