Question as the topic stands.

Nice descriptions at least

I think it is a great way to continue gaining revenue on a product, while continuing to offer the end user new content *and* allowing developers and creators to contunie service on the old client by way of patches, fixes and an evolving update center.
I love it, and I do intend to contribute.

I intend to contribute as well, only bad thing was that this came so late. They could have been working for that much earlier. I think they created the concept of bioware module store for upcoming NWN2 or something.

I dunno. I see 1.64 as the 'we are done supporting you people, pay up if you want any more as we are now cutting into profit margins with any time devoted to this product' kind of big patch.
Alot of it just seems so final.
I think the store is ther way of opening their wallets to receive your requests for continued development.

Well, most of thier "Updates" have really been fixes for stuff they didn't get right in the first place.
If they put out a "Pay-to-Update" thing, I think most of the NWN communities will just drop bioware like a bad habit and go to fixing it themselves. *shrugs* Most would already but why do fixes for bioware when the Updates will just mess up what you already have done?
Though the store looks kewl. The storylines in of themselves are mega-interesting

I found the three modules I paid $30-$50 a pop for to be not worth it. I'm not shelling out more money for that experience, voice acting or not.

The modules sound mega interesting, especially the Remaked Version of Witch's Wake.
I loved the original one and I became quite disappointed I had to buy the modules for US Dollars.
So I can't buy any of those modules and will never be able to play them.
This sucks!

Damn you Bioware!

Fret not. It doesn't work that way. Just put it on your credit card and your credit card company will do the appropriate conversion into Pounds. Game on!

I think it'd be worth it if they were only longer. So.. SHORT!!! AHHH!

I don't have a credit card yet, unfortunately.
I hope they can sell 'em in normal game stores... that would be sweet.
In one package:
All three modules, game guides, cd's, faq's and other nifty stuff.
Or you just buy them seperately.

Not gonna happen. One of their biggest costs is media duplication, packaging, and manuals. Throw in the cuts for distribution and retail and there's not much left over.
The price is right, but if the gameplay time estimate is correct, too short and their focus on Single Player... meh

I actually think these are a good idea.
Hopefully it will enable Bioware to get some feedback on things to include in NWN2, even though they are well into that development I'm sure.
And, sometimes I like a nice SP module. Gives me a chance to experiment more with my characters because the commitment to one path isn't as strong.

No they did not.
Obsidian Entertainment is doing
NWN2, not BioWare. BioWare is only in a support role in the development of NWN2, and will not be selling NWN2 related content with that store.
This store was created for two major reasons: to pay for the existence of the Live Team that keeps patching NWN and adding new content, and as a sort of test to see if something like this would be profitable for them. If so, they very well might use the store for
Dragon Age stuff in the future, for instance.
This store is one of the best things I've seen a development studio do in a long time. Without it, support for NWN would cease to exist soon, or might have already, if they hadn't started planning this.
It just is not financially feasible to keep a team of some of the most experienced employees working on a game that no longer generates money to keep the company afloat. Like it or not, money is the life blood of these companies. And game development is becoming increasingly more expensive. Many triple A titles cost in the range of millions today, to make.
I plan to buy just about every module they release. Hell, I'd do it just to support the Live Team, but I'm really interested in playing through the entire Witch's Wake series as it unfolds.
