Question 2: Self Concealment

Ok I plan on playing NWN again shortly after December, I am going to buy the new G5. And I have been looking at the feats and whatnot and planning possible character angles. My question is simple:

How do you get your Dex to 30 in anywhere near enough time to get the Self Concealment feat 5 times?

My plans were to be rogue even into epic levels, possible multiclass fighter but that would all come down to how the roleplaying goes along. The only way I saw possible was to take a bunch of fighter levels and to take the Greater Dex feat multiple times. This runs major meta-gaming (which i guess im metagaming anyway, but hey this is just planning) but only seems completely stupid as the only way to achieve that kind of dex

Thanks!

I tried to work this out a while ago and came up with the fact that it was near impossible. If you start with a race with +2 dex and max your dex, be a rogue and continue that through epic levels, then spend every extra point on dex, and in epic levels spend every feat on the bonus dexterity, then you can get 30 dex by level 27. From there you can get 8 more bonus feats. Meaning that it IS possible, but only if you're maxing yourself out for self-concealment.

If you start with 20 dex and put every stat point and epic feat (No rogue bonus feat sadly enoug) in dex, you can have 30 Dexterity at level 30, and get the first Self Concealment at level 32 (Rogue Bonus Feat)

maybe i will just say screw it then. That is an insane amount off effort just to reach self concealment

thanks for the help people!

A lot of Epic feats make no sense... but that sort of goes into the basic concept behind the Epic Handbook, as WotC laid it out.

I think a rogue by the time they can afford that feat should be able to afford a few tonnes of dust of dissappearance or something anyway.

Some of the epic feats unfortunately do require that you put some foresight when you first create the PC, but the big ones are attainable.

That one just seems a waste to me.

Does anyone know if self-concealment is nullified by True Seeing?

I agree, I doubt that Feat is worth it. Epic Dodge however is going to be extremely nice.

Don't worry about plans for epic lvls past a character concept.

Like, I want to be a...
sneaky rogue
tough goblin priest
mage killing assasin
greatsword master

The amount of time it actualy takes to get 25+ on avlis and actualy put some of these feat lines into play is just sooo long.

You will be much happier if you just keep a simple plan, take things in stride, and make each decision as it comes.

I'd recommend coming up with a personaity/character concept you like and let the rest take care of itself.

Yah but it won't be until something like lvl 27 for Mel......

which at the present rate of xp growth will occur sometime in in 2007

True seeing doesn't see through any kind of concealment. Sadly, it doesn't even see through the concealment provided by improved invisibility even though it should be negated completely.

for a melee fighter imp invis is the best spell ever, and to have the imp invis effect forever is 40 times as good as having perm hast imo.

you half the chances of people hitting you, or take it down to 1/4 if they have the blind fight feat, that helps ALOT.

I agree entirely. I know all about the personality, fighting style, etc ofr the character I would like to eventually play on Avlis. Plus I have donme tons of research on Avlis itself to help mold him into the world. Like reading that 135 pg player guide lol

Ive been playing pnp for many years and roleplaying games for as long as I can remember. Along with tons of hours in a few MMORPGS such as Ultima online and dark age of camelot to name a few.

Cant wait till the day soon when I get my new mac and I can bring Aden Coraxe to Avlis =-)

One thing to remember on the epic feats like Self Concealment, they are written for PnP.

PnP has a bonus to ability scores: Inherent, which can be gotten with the stat raising tomes, or wishes.

At epic level PnP play, its very likely for a rogue to have a +4-5 inherent bonus to their dex. So they need to only reach 26ish dex using the every 4 level point + Great Dexterity. This makes the 30 prereq much more attainable.

NWN has no such way to raise ability scores, but retained the PnP prereqs.

Epic Dodge:
25 base dexterity
Improved Evasion
Defensive Roll
30 ranks of tumble
(The evasion and def roll basically means it's limited to either Rogue or Shadowdancer)

Self Concealment:
30 base dexterity
30 ranks of tumble
30 ranks of hide
Improved Evasion

However, epic dodge is bugged (or the manual is wrong) and you just need one rank in tumble to take it.
