haven't got time to read those links - just want to know if persistent worlds will be easily transportable into NWN 2 ?
Else .. I can't see any Avlis players getting it

Hmmmm...
I wondered where Papillion has been.
If they are, in fact, developing this, I surely hope they can get it out in less than 6 years. It took so long last time that the graphics engine was rather lacking when it hit shelves.
Maybe they'll also make the engine multithreaded!
One can dream (and hope....)

Well, they aren't lengthy articles really. Just remarks and a screenshot from PC Gamer coverage of NWN 2 and Baldurs Gate 3 for next months issue.
I also hope they will be able to provide a conversion toolset. I don't think they would want to upset the community by not supporting such a feature. That would alienate many players who are involved in current projects.

Woohoo, Baldurs Gate 3. I hope they don't screw it up like they did the expansion for BG2 though. The main storyline on the expansion was crap and it seemed to turn more into a hack 'n' slash and moved even further away from the niceness of the original BG. Maybe you can import your character too, heh, just like you could into NWN

First, BioWare wont be doing NWN 2.
Second, NWN took so long to get out due to BioWare leaving Interplay, and a court battle over several things with them. NWN might never have come out, or might have been released and left for dead by Interplay. We may have been lucky that things worked out that they did. I really don't know the details of the legal situation to comment more definitively.

The Reasons why I think it is B.S. I mean, Either Bioware is keeping it under wraps, Another company decided to take the NWN name, or its all B.S.

Atari owns the license, and it is being done by another company, IF AT ALL.
BioWare has said time and again that it is NOT doing NWN 2. And they have also said that NWN 2 COULD happen, but only if Atari chooses to have another development studio do it.
Just like KotOR 2 is being done by another company. It's still KotOR 2, but it's not BioWare doing it. Lucas Arts holds the license, and chose to continue on.

There was speculation on the Bioware Forum that the company doing KoToR2 might also do NWN2. They have a secret project they are working on titled "The Pennsylvania Project".
It would suck if Bioware didn't do it.

-IF- NWN2 is being developed, then whoever will be developing it would be utterly foolish to not try and make the "upgrade/conversion" as easily as possible. They will gain a seizable chunck of clientele by allowing PW-owners to upgrade easily, 'forcing' all steady players at those PW's to buy the game too. If instead they force the gamers to choose for "the new game" OR the NWN-PW they've been playing and developing on for several years, it's competition instead of expansion.

heh-heh-heh, oh my
Do a little bit of math. How many people play NWN PW's today? Be generous.... perhaps a better question is: how many big NWN PW's exist? 10? 20? Let's extend the latter then and go for a nice overestimate.
It's been said that Avlis has a constant population of around 2000 players. If we extend that to our 20 fictional "big" servers then we're talking roughly 40,000 people. That's nothing. My WAG at their sales target is ~2M copies.
The problem is that they don't have to guess. The can just look at the Master Server logs to see 'exactly' how many legitimate copies are used to play on PW's.
Therefore, I have little faith that any further development will have an easy upgrade path.

btw, bioware has a unnanounced title still in the works... they announced DA but they still said they have one more, this was in some sort of interview around the time of E3

BioWare already stated that the unannounced title IS NOT NWN 2...
Please search the Bio-boards before anymore speculation about what BioWare might be doing.

Although, I suspect it is true that BioWare are not working on NWN2 - they wouldn't be the first publisher to lie about the projects they are working on before they are officially released. I half-remember Black Isle denying they were working on IWD2 in their forums virtually up till the point the adverts started appearing in the press.

Hmm, it could also be BG3.

It's unlikely that they will make anything else using the D&D system. The rights of D&D for computers have been sold to Atari (I think). And I bet BioWare won't get closer to WotC in the near future.
By the way, what do you think about the DA project? I've been reading the forums and seen some good things there. Won't be D&D, they are making a new system specialy created for computers, but it may be as good as.

If I am not mistaken (and I may well be) I think Atari has ALWAYS had the rights and just liscensed Bioware to produce games.
Maybe Atari is creating it on their own/via another producer?
I really find it unlikely though, but it is about the right time for such... usually it takes a few years between titles in a series if they using a new engine.
