extreme lag problems...

Hi everyone.
First off, yeah I'm a noob, I won't hold that against all of ye.
Problem I seem to have is with EXTREEEEME lag on the Elysia Server. So I could walk a few meters, the lag would have me jump back a meter, carry on - and talking [being the real problem] takes about a full minute to select an option [in one specific case, 2 minutes to get through a dialog where the only answer was End Dialog]. The area transitions were fine, though - actually a lot faster than I expected. This might be unrelated, though.
I don't know about the other servers, I was busy getting familiar with Elysia. I also tried some other [non Avlis] public PW's in case it was bad connection at my side - and I get perfect connection, even on high-ping servers.
What I wanted to know is, is this normal for Elysia, or just temporary?

Elysia has been exceptionally busy due (at least in part) to the publicity it generated from the article on bioware.com. The team is working on the problem (getting more servers and a new host location) which would help the situation along. Along with the servers, the development team is looking into any coding solutions.
Until the new severs are up, I have been traveling to Ferrell and Le'or to help stay away from some of the lag problems, though you will still see me around Elysia from time to time.
Note: I am not a team member, but here are some of there replies:

Hope to you see IC.

Thanks guys. Probably with my luck the server had a gillful of players at the time I went in.. if it gets unbearable I'll ferry across to another server. Thanks for the quick replies!

Come to Le'Or'T'Nanshi. A TON of new stuff has gone in within the last month alone, and Le'Or now offers more things for newbies to do than perhaps any other server.

Shameless plug aside

, Aloro's right. Le'Or is fast becoming a very newbie friendly server with alot to keep characters of all levels engaged, and with its beautiful scenery and interesting areas offers much in the way of RP opportunities. Besides, who knows what adventures might be waiting around the corner for new or old travellers alike who venture up into the lofty heights of the tree city? The only way is to stop in and check things out - rumour has it the DM's there love to see new faces...

Apparently you weren't there on Monday night my time cause LeOr was lagging big time. Bottomline, put enough people on any server and and it lags. The more people going to LeOr the more it will lag. In spite of the great work that Aloro's done to get people there

. Examining the server before hand will give you some idea of how bad the lag might be. However even that is no sure thing, if there is a DM spawning things or external issues the lag can still be bad even with only a few people on.
You will always have to deal with lag to some degree. These are some things you can do to try to minimize the issues.

thanks Melakin.
I'll keep that in mind when I connect later on.. although I'm pretty keen to give Le'Or'T'Nanshi a try..

Unfortunately, this is what I do, and my lovely home server of Mikona always has a ping of 1500+ when I've checked it lately.
"My dear, beloved, Mikona, I shall return.
Stay gritty and full of nasties,
Stay home to the Malekites, the Ebonies,
Home to those sneaky Black Birds.
My dear, beloved, Mikona, I shall return..."

Just stay visible, cuz giants can't see that far down.
Ferrell is also pretty cool if you want to kill time. Try taking up fishing, I hear it's quite a catch!

By all means do so but if you see 25 people logged on don't expect low lag

Yeah, lately Elysia has been lagtown, population: everyone.
</lame 90's joke>
But hopefully it will even out soon enough. It usually does.

Tonight on Mikona the lag was almost the worst ive seen ever in a year of playing, with exception to a trade fair with 50 ppl on one server of course. And there was only about 20 people on Mikona. It cleared up eventually though.

I'm new to Avlis, but ehre is my two cents
I play on the Mikona server since I started a few days ago, and yea, it has been laggy, tryign to move around, going backa few meters. But what I have seen that helps is using the WASD keys, you dont jump back as much as when you use the mouse.
hope this helps someone..

Using WASD does help with lag because it doesn't require the server to pathfind for you
If you have 30 players using WASD instead of mousing click, it makes a bit of difference

Mikona lags greatly I must admit, I have noted this for two days now at least. Is there a solution coming?

Yes,. as the team have said upteen dozens of times, the servers are all being moved to a new location, which will HOPEFULLY remove some of the lag.
