Can't add Deflect Arrows to items as a bonus feat in toolset

Anyone got any idea why?

What kind of item? if it' a weapon, by default that won't work, since you need to be unarmed for it to work. :P

Actually, it's the same as a Favored enemy... it's a class feat that can't be granted via an item property. I'm pretty sure Death Attack and HiPS work in a similar manner. They can all be added to NPCs regardless of class, of course, but not to items.

Hide in Plain Sight can be added as an item property.

I'm not sure why deflect arrow wouldn't be except for the fact that it has some massive prerequisites which might make it impossible to add.

I think overall it's just an issue of not being worth adding as an item property decided by Bioware.

It is afterall an unarmed feat.

Pretty sure I saw it as an option once. No idea what item type it was. Different things can be added to items depending on what they are, and you can always script it if you really want to add it.

I was trying to add it to a fan, which comes under weapon as it is equippable I guess. Wanted to make a Samurai battle fan like they had. May try something else.

It is a follow up to unarmed strike, but does it stop working if you equip a weapon?

Even though it's an "unarmed feat", I still find it pretty odd that you can't add that to a weapon but you CAN add HiPS.

All I know is that if I had an arrow coming at me in RL, I'd rather try to deflect it with the flat of my blade rather then my bare hands.

They dont have nearly all the feats included on items. They really limit what you can put, at least last i checked. I wouldn't be suprised if this is another feat bioware didnt add the option to add as an item property.

These messages were brought to you by Vrosh, the King o'Spam.

Of course, he will come back and say it was an "accident", but we all know the truth Big Feller.

There used to be hakpacks that allowed you to add any feat to items. Interestingly enough the items work just fine without the hakpack attached to the module; the items are still valid. Its just innately your choices of feats to add to items is limited by Bioware, but if you DO add them they work just fine as a standard part of the game.

Would you believe me and some pals used to play "catch the arrow" as kids? Not target arrows...bloody razor sharp bladed tips.

Of course..before paintball became a craze we had bb-gun fights too.

Hmm it might work on a shield, but I could see why it wouldn't work on a weapon.

All I want to do is create the type of fan samurais used to deflect arrows, but I decided to implement it by letting you cast entropic shield instead. The best thing about using deflect arrows though would be that you could force them to keep it equipped and use another weapon in their offhand. (For some reason, presumably graphics related, umbrellas and fans will not equip offhand)

It would never work even if you could apply it. The Feat itself will ONLY work if both your hands are completely empty. Even if you equip a shield, Deflect Arrows doesn't work. Similarly, a Monk using a shield can't use flurry of blows. (Unless they patched that out... haven't tried since before SoU came out.)

It's called a Tessen, damnit! Tessen! :x

I don't think you can add it to a weapon, but it should be addable to Bracers or gloves. They have gloves of missile snatching somewhere, I believe.

Let's not get into an argument about what the damn thing is called. For one thing there are various different names for different items that fulfil the same basic function. It is easier to describe it than name it as not everyone on these boards would know what was being referred to.

Anyway, if deflect arrows needs empty hands having it cast entropic shield is defintely the best option.

Any idea where to find those haks? I'll have a look when I get home but advance pointers would help.
