Isn't subletting illegal in M'Chek?

Wasn't aware if it was but seeing as how I am selling the keys I am sure I would not be breaking that kind of law.

Actually, it is subletting.

IC, the Inn ledger would still have Jack Night's name on it. The keys are not his property to be sold, they are the Inns, you are merely renting the key.

So basically, Jack Night is trying to make a quick buck and steal from the Inn, which is illegal in M'Chek.

Were this actually an IC post, a Deputy would post as much as a reply, and if it were to happen IC, Jack could be arrested for it.

You do realize you can just return them to the innkeeper, and someone else can rent them, right?

Damn shame you can't escape filthy capitalists who'll do anything for a quick buck, even in a fantasy world where the profit margin is negligible.

Who was it that said, "Greed, above all else." I forget.

The presence of arbitrage in these keys suggests to me that their listed prices are too low, and they should be raised accordingly to reflect their true social value. Such a move would 1) reduce the incentive for this kind of arbitrage, 2) would also aid in the team's efforts to keep the monetary base sound, 3) let the team concentrate on more important police matters, and 4) allow more realistic RP options by letting merchants transact in new markets.

If there's concern about equity for new/low characters, there is the Hope hostel in the Mikona Temple District. Perhaps some sort of means-testing by running a check on character's gold would make sure it remains open to the destitute, recently slain-cum-looted.

Just some ideas from a guy surrounded by markets and institutions. 8) Granted it might be the case that to raising the price of an in-game good is not worth the hassle. In which case, my apologies, please ignore. :D

Basically, rooms are scarse, I know first hand how precious they are (especially for a crafter) and I want to give someone the oppertunity to purchase a key. I hand the key in, they ask for a key, they get one becuase they are next in line...
