Damage REsist

Is damage resist supposed to stack?
Because I have a char who has 5 slashing resist from each a belt, gloves and armour and they are not stacking.
And, does anybody know why my char don't use the new running animations when I play multiplayer but they do use them in single player? Other people who had HotU installed will use the new animations but none of mine will.

They don't stack.
EDIT: different types can be worn, e.g. 5 slashing and 5 peircing and you get both. But if they are the same it just takes one (the higher I guess).

It should also be noted that damage resistance DOES stack with damage reduction.
So if you have a +1/5 damage reduction item and a 5 slashing resistance item, then the first 10 points of damge will be ignored from slashing weapons. (As long as the weapon is not +1 or higher).

Because the server doesn't use HotU yet. When they make the switch over, you can run around like there's a stick up your ass all you want.

Nothing is supposed to stack accept dodge bonuses. Not ac, not attack bonuses, nothing. Each will have a specific name.
+1 attack and +1 enchantment = +1 to-hit. but for to-hit, +5 magic, +5 enchant, +1 bless, +1 aid, +? bard song all stack.
Sheild ac bonus, natrual ac bonus, deflection ac, armor ac all stack.
5/- slashing and 5/- peircing stack. 5/- slashing and 10/- slashing only gives you 10/- slashing.
5/+1 damage resist and 10/+3 damage resist = 10/+3 damage resist
NWN does stack stats and resists though. So +1 str and +1 str = +2str. or +1 universal save and +1 universal save = +2 universal save.

But all of White Ravens characters use the new animation on my screen and his. But mine don't use them on anybody's screen.

In NWN, skill bonuses also stack. Thus you can equip multiple e.g. Hide items, and get the combined benefit of all of them.

Someone posted some files on the NWN Vault that puts the old animations back in. Just download and unzip this into your override folder.
It is from this old thread btw:

I use it all the time. The new run is crap. Just don't overwrite any other files you already have in the override directory. (Eg. I have the new 2 weapon/unarmed combat animations in there.)
