Just thought I would inform everyone on a new great PW out.

Currently 200+ areas .. great difficulty level, PNP style quests.

Its not really what I like to call a newb hang out. The encounters are well thought out and very difficult.

Lawsuit? Surely not. I mean, they're obviously geniouses and would have reasearched for a loophole beforehand...

/sigh. The quality of crime these days.

Silk's link was a "donation" page. I only vaguely remember it but it was along the lines of:

$5 listed as contributor
$10 item named after you
$10 1d8 elemental damage on a weapon
.
.
.
$50 some stupid demigod thingy for a PC
.
.
.
$100 We'll customize something funky.

Basic point, for those people that think it's just cheesy, is that it is probably a direct violation of the NWN EULA (End User License Agreement). In more plain words: it's not allowed to make money of products (modules or PWs) you made with NWN or associated tools.

For the record, the issue of charging for in-game content has been beaten to ten types of death on the official Bioware forums. The real facts of the matter are:

A. Bioware probably doesn't really have the resources to chase after this sort of thing, and would rather spend it's time developing games, and...

B. Atari probably DOES have the resources to chase after this sort of thing, but it'll be a cold day in hell before they mobilize to do it.

So, if it bothers you to the point you feel you must act, about the furthest extent you can really go to is e-mailing Maximus at NWN Vault and asking him to remove their listing from the PW database, provided they are listed at all. Maximus has gone on record as saying that he will not support PW's that participate in a pay-for-perks system.

Also, it's worth noting that Maximus implemented this policy as a result of community pressure only. He claims that, previously, he had contacted Bioware about this very issue, and was told basically, "we can't/won't/don't bother with this."

Im not in agreement with this but look again people.

What they say is that they will _gift_ donators with a reward. This is not a direct violation of EULA and quite frankly even if it was deemed to be Bioware would do nothing about it.

Urath sold custom items/skins to its playerbase for nearly a year. Bioware didnt react despite the protest from the community. It was only a dwindling/almost non-existing playerbase - and possibly a change of control - that saw a change in policy.
