Fed Up with Avlis?

Is Avlis getting you down?
Is the Legion of Darkness killing all your merchants?
Are lunatics destroying all your anvils?
Are roving groups of bandits stealing your gold?
Is the Order of Gorethar giving you a hard time?
If the answer to any of these questions is yes, perhaps it's time for a change of scenery.
Check out
Hala. You can connect through gamespy with a brand new character, or even portal from your very own Elysia.
Hala is the place to be. We have such a small player base, our DM to player ratio is often
one to one! Talk about DM love.
For more information, take a gander at our happening website at
http://hala.neonsun.org/
Soon to come: smaller areas and more to do.
This shameless Hala promotion brought to you by your neighborhood Hala DMs and the team at http://hala.neonsun.org/

I would like to take a look ... the only thing that worries me is that I don't have the password. For some reason I don't receive any more emails about Avlis stuff (except for the very first email!).
So if I log out while in Hala, I wont know how to get back in!

Please keep CoPaP world advertisements on the General NWN Forums and NOT the Avlis forums.

My apologies Orleron.
I'll pay you back by making an Avlis announcement on the Hala website.
Getting the Hala password is no harder than getting the Avlis passwords.
Simply come to our website (
http://hala.neonsun.org/ ) and fill out the application form. (
http://hala.neonsun.org/phpbb2/portal.p ... pplication )
Or...
You could probably just as easily get away with sending a PM to one of our team members (
http://hala.neonsun.org/phpbb2/groupcp.php?g=7 ) proving that you have all the Avlis passwords.
Cheers.

Well. That's one more reason I won't visit Hala. I know you're desperate for players, but go out and get yours like Avlis did, not by stealing its player population.

I agree... it's kinda rude to post that here. Naughty boy.

Wow... That must take some nerve to use Avlis's messageboard to trash Avlis and try to steal our players.

That's bad form right there.

Uh, I think that Morbid didn't really mean to trash Avlis, or steal it's player base. And I think that the whole point of CoPAP is allowing worlds to SHARE playerbases. No stealing involved.
Well. That's one more reason I won't visit Hala.
Oh, come on. Just give it a try you silly man.
And no, I'm not on the Hala team. I haven't even been there.

Reason I don't go there #1: No IC reason. I don't know it exists.
Never was over to Mythos in its link up time.
Saying, "Come over, we have too many DM's, we're all bored, we want to give you quests!" is all well and good, but bashing Avlis first is just... bad. Like Funk said.

I think the anvil and OoG comments were to poke fun.

Yeah, sorry Morbid, this was just a tad overboard. Avlis people are more than welcome to come over, but the tone of your post sounds more like "Come to Hala if you're sick of Avlis.", eventhough you are just poking fun at some of the quests going on in Avlis.

Anyway, if Avlis didn't exist then CoPap wouldn't exist, and neither would Hala. So with that being said...
Hala will be here, if you wanna come visit.
Oh, and consequently Max... your character knew of Mythos because Cor told you.. Remember, we were going to visit, but couldn't portal over there.

Well, I knew *of* Mythos, just was never there. Maxinion doesn't even know of Hala, in the first place, because its not the big item whore that Mythos was, and isn't drawing nearly as many people becasue of that.

I am not offended by the post, because I know is was in good fun, if a bit misguided. But I just want people to remember that the General NWN forum is where all this stuff belongs.
People do not go to Hala that much because it is not yet as developed as Mythos, but it will be someday, and like Avlis, you need to give it time. The fact that it's not a shopping mall for item whoring is a GOOD thing.
Also, to the Hala crew, I would recommend looking up the "Tips on Publicizing Your PW" thread in the CoPaP forum if you have access. There's good stuff there on how to get your own players, which of course, I really would like, because when you get players, WE get players, and vice versa.

Ok, I don't know damn, but here I go.
I really enjoy the atmosphere that Avlis has provide me with; A tremendously large area riddled with war, plague and intrigue that most novelest fail to produce.
Saying that I will continue with my drivel.
Since Hala is linked with Avlis, I am assuming that Orl and Co. have decided it a place that has a similar "endgame" as Avlis does. By saying
endgame" I mean the same environment that I have come to enjoy with Avlis. I have taken my character there using by virtue of the post on the Elysia IC board and have had a blast. I really don't think that this post was a means to "recruit" characters over, but to solidify the link created by this merger. Avlis is not absorbing Hala nor is Hala absorbing Avlis; it is just that we are linking.
Again (please correct me if I am wrong) the purpose is to provide a diverse, but enjoyable experince for us. From my brief experience there, the only thing that Hala lacks is players. Its scope, RP, and DMs really make you feel "at home".
IC, I have tryed to promote this to others in Elysia. I tell my friends of the magnificent lands that my character has seen, the people he has met; but I have recieved the same answer. This answer has always been " I hear it is a wonderful land, but there is nobody there!!"
Now again, beat me like a drum for what I am going to say. People are SCARED of what will happen in a different place.
My character was too.
Fuck all that, I was scared. I guess this rambling of mine is trying to promote a smooth transition to this place by trying to make a Trans to Hala as smooth as a Trans to the Wilderness. I have no interests of the place called "Hala" in succeding as a link to our world except for the fact that it felt like a "comfortable" transition.
This was done as a compliment to both our "ballfields" so to speak and I am going to try to enjoy it.

I have been playing Avlis since around January/December of last year so you can expect that I do enjoy Avlis just as much as any of you. That said, you can expect they will be very much alike even though they are very different. I've been looking on the link just as any other link in between the Avlis servers, I was hoping people would treat it that way but it really doesn't matter. A small player base is a lot easier to manage then an extremely huge one (avlis-sized) would be. As for recruiting other people outside of the avlis player-base, how many people do you think are still out there that would be interested in an Avlis-like PW that haven't already tried Avlis?
Because of the shared playerbase thing, we can not possibly 'recruit' players in the sense that you're thinking it. We can only advertise the world so that the player base knows about it, like you'd tell them where Deglos is.
I was honestly surprised though at how many people responded to this post, I expected people to just skim past all of the Hala posts by now. Max, that was a little rude. I know you didn't it mean it how I took it but if you'd list off these other sins of ours, you'll most likely get a large appology or a few items on the great to-do list.
I know that you prefer having these posts in the the NWN General forum and it is my fault for not mentioning this to my team so sorry.
I've been writing way too many notes like this and I'm terrible at them. If I had to face this kind of stuff earlier on, we would not have linked and I'd have stopped construction completely. As it is now though, I'm happy with how things in Hala are.

*shrugs*
simply an uncalled for comment, given the relation between HALA and AVLIS.

You have to admit, the original post was a bit borderline... I wouldn't call the comment 'uncalled for'
We might have to take these comments the same way as the original post: not too seriously.

MY GOD!! The original post was tongue in cheek and a bit of fun...how can you not see this?
And how can you NOT appreciate the efforts of AVLIS PLAYERS who have gone out and built a new world to help make Orlerons dream come true??????

As far as I'm concerned, all linked CoPaP worlds are family. They're not competition. So, advertising on these boards (in the right forum) is something that is actually desired so that we let everyone know that there are more worlds that are linked so you can check them out.

I assume all players will receive an email with the Hala IP and password?
edit: Harvey, please pay attention. You gotta love hotmail.... it decided that Avlis mail is spam. Again. Can I change the email address I registered with

?

Alright, so maybe I used the wrong words. I'm sorry. But *I*, not representing Avlis or anything, do not appreciate all the 'faults' of Avlis being listed, then having that there. *shrugs* I was in a bad mood, didn't 'get' the joke.
Pitched, I'm not bashing your world. Same to you, Khaelindra. You want to know the one other reason? And that's an IC one too- Not publicized in Mikona, and that's the only place where my char stays. I only play that one char, and I honestly don't feel like making another one.
Frankly, that's the only reason. This post ticked me off, but that doesn't really mean much in the long run. Why did it tick me off:
1) Listing all of Avlis's IC faults.
You're more or less putting down the world, on very valid reasons, but you're doing it on this world's boards. That's a no-no, in my book.
2) Listing all of Hala's good parts.
You're making Hala seem like the perfect alternative, which it may very well be.
I'm sorry if I offended anyone, which I'm sure I did. I know it was meant as a joke, Pharik, but in my eyes it was inappropriate. Avlis and Hala are meant to work together, and I felt that this post was just crossing that line into competition.
Once again, I'm sorry, Pitched, I really didn't mean to offend you.
