ok , my appologies if this had been said to death , i did do a v. quick scan of the forums ...
I tried to log into Avlis today and it told me my CD key was still i use, now i logged out fine last night and i've been aat work all day , so I know all the stuff about the server not dropping me blah blah isnt true.
Which leads me to believe that some hacker with a Keygen has my key and is using it.
I think it kinda sux that the game was made this way , I mean FGS, EVERYTHING is hacked in the end , they must have know KeyGens would come out. I thinked player rights and enjoyment has been sacrificed for money security ... that doesnt work anyway.

I'm not sure if this is the case with you, but I just wanted to let you know that when a server crashes, there will sometimes be a short period afterwards where you will get the "cd key in use" error when you try to log in.
I believe this is because the server that crashed has not informed the master server that you are no longer playing, so the master server still thinks your cd key is being used.
It happens to me almost everytime a server crashes and I have to wait 2-3 minutes longer than everyone else to log back in.

Thanks for the heads up dude , but no this isnt me , I've not been logged in for over 14 hrs or so , and I logged out normally then, I did see on the official NWN forum that pirates do cause this and its annoying!
Dont get me wrong I love NWN and think its well worth the ?36 I paid for it a few days after it game out. But to limit players like this is infuriating.

Mail a support request to Bioware. It's virtually impossible that someone generated exactly your key with a generator. The odds for the sun collapsing earlier than thought (say tomorrow) would be higher than THAT.

But it is possible, no matter now improbable a thing is , if its happened its happened.
I mailed support as soon as it happened , got no where , from posts on their own forum it seems that their support is very lacking and shoddy ...

What I really meant: You might want to search for some other explanation of your cd key problem.

Maybe try a full reinstall and make sure you input the right CD-key? Or would that matter at all?

You can change or check the cd-key you play with by opening the nwncdkey.ini file in your NWN directory. You don't need to do a full install for that.
The file should look like this:
;These are your CD Keys for Neverwinter Nights.
;DO NOT share these CD Keys with ANYONE.
;Apart from this installation, or when registering with the Official Neverwinter Nights Community Site [
http://nwn.bioware.com], BioWare and Infogrames will NEVER ask you for this CD Key.
[CDKEY]
Key1="this is where your cdkey should be"
