Every odd level, a pale master progresses in his knowledge of magic as if having gained one level in his primary casting class. This progress is in terms of spell levels and spell slots available

So progression as far as spell levels go is twice as slow as a normal spellcaster?

I just hit the dizzy heights of 9th level, 3 of these being in PM. I was expecting to be able to cast 5th level spells. Now according to the wiki I have to wait until I'm 5th level PM before that will happen. The progression as far as it goes does really suck considering I got the nifty ability to see in the dark this level!

Palemasters get other nifty feats to make up for it. I swear one day Ill roll a Monk Wizard Palemaster just to get immunity to crits and mind spells.

Pale Masters never get immunity to mind spells.

Their spell casting progression definitely suffers, but fortunately half of their pale master levels (every odd level) count toward spell duration/damage and piercing spell resistance, thanks to Avlis spellhooking.

I think that's what he meant!

Monk/palemaster is a pretty powerful combination. Between monk AC bonus, palemaster natural AC bonus, and an insane amount of immunities and resistances, you can avoid being affected by most anything.

Oh, and the spell progression does not count toward dispelling last I looked. So don't go overboard.

In my experience, it also may not work towards certain spells like the sort of shadow summon by shades.

But I have been mostly on another CoPaP server, and I know the spells are all hooked and act differently depending on server.

The advantage to pale master is definitely not casting.

None of the PRCs that increase casterlevel increase your casterlevel for ther purposes of being dispelled.

So if you're a level 8/2/30 wizard/fighter/pm, you're level 8 for the purposes of being dispelled. If you're a 10 cleric/30 annihilator, you're level 10 caster for the purposes of dispels, etc.

Another unheralded advantage of PM's is they get Hide and move silently as class skills, which is pretty sweet for high int wis/palemasters.

Well I don't plan to have the uber high AC that is doable, but summoning smelly undead and watching them play is pretty funny! Well the silly concept I have is cool to play. I had planned on a few psion levels but looking at the PM progression I might not bother.

Oh and hide/MS a definate must have for an Adomkuro.

Yes it does.

It doesn't count defensively versus dispelling though

Also the persuade skill has become increasingly useful in the higher levels.
