Medical Kit VS Cure potions...

Is there anything that Potions of Cure X Wounds can do that Medical kits can't do better?

Just one: Following common sense, IC-ly one should be unable to use healers kits while fighting. This is an opinion, not a rule of any kind. Otherwise, the answer is no.
PS - Of course, a Potion of Heal and the various Elixirs existant on Avlis should do better in terms of hitpoints restored, but your question was strictly on Potions of Cure X Wounds I believe?

If you're shapeshifted, I believe you are unable to use Healing Kits, but can still drink potions. This is due to a limitation of the Bioware engine, not anything intentional on Avlis's part. Of course, it would be cheesing to drink a potion if shapeshifted into a form that couldn't drink potions due to physical limitations (e.g. dog), but there are lots of forms that could drink potions easily enough (e.g. Lupins, Formians).

S.A.F.E. public service reminder: Potions won´t heal your party members.

Expanding on Hamlet's small text:
Avlis does have a few potions that are much more powerful than cure x's, and a good bit cheaper than full blown heal pots.
Elixir of Heavenly Heal and Elixir of Exalted Healing.
And Mr. Wiki says 90hp or 40% total, and 180hp or 80% total respectively (whichever is greater on both).

As I recall, heal kits will also not provoke an attack of opportunity, while using any potion/scroll will. The effectiveness of heal kits is also dependant on your heal skill that you put points into on level up, while the potions are based on independant die rolls from yoru character. As far as the not using heal kits in combat, i think this is handled well enough by the engine, as during combat the d20 is rolled, where as in non-combat you always get a 20. In theory, the maximun you can can heal with a kit is 43+20+12(max craftable kit)+bonuses to heal skill from stats/equipment. You won't get near the benefit from a kit that you will from a potion. That being said, kits are essential in that you can't heal other PC/NPC's with a potion.

Kits can also be used in stealth. As for how much you can heal with a kit, you should check with some of the really good healers out there. Maxed out ability and epic focus go a long way with the right items and buffs behind it.

I think its actually possible to break 100 with the kits

43 skill base + 20 for the roll + 12 for the kit = 75
+10 epic skill focus
+3 skill focus
+12 or more wisdom
+50 from items and spells
Yeah, over 100 is pretty doable
See here for an example

Scrolls dont provoke AoO either. That's the big bonus of scrolls over potions, along with the fact that you can use scrolls on friends as well as on yourself.

It's worth adding that healing kits are much, much heavier to carry than potions.

agreed. my only 80% bag is exclusively a healing kit bag.
one thing i've noticed (and i may be wrong on this), but it seems like potions are quicker to use in combat than kits. i know kits aren't really great to use in combat, but with enough of a heal bonus, +1 kits are super economical.
anyone confirm or deny what i think i've seen regarding speed of use with potions vs. kits?

You're right. The healing kit seems to be applied at the end of your round, and the healing potion is drunk somewhere in the middle of it. So its a difference of 1-2 seconds, which may or may not be important to you.

It is if you need to dive back and chug a heal *loves tumble*. Try it in combat and chances are the AoO will kill you.
