NWN1 Network Connection Problem (Vista)??

So about 3 weeks ago, Micah and I invested in a new desktop machine and since then have had problems connecting at the same time to Avlis - here's a rundown of what we know, and what we've tried at the suggestion of others:

-I am on a desktop, Micah on a laptop, both hp.
-We both run Windows Vista
-We both direct hard-line connect into our Router
-Our ports in our nwnplayer.ini are different
-We both disabled UPnP
-We can both connect to Avlis2 without any issues
-Sometimes, I can be on A2 and he can be on A1 without disconnecting the other, but not always

When he is logged into any A1 server and then I try to log into an A1 server, I kick him out, but not always immediately (sometimes there's 3-5 minute delay), and vice versa. We did NOT have this problem when I was running a machine that had Windows XP.

Any ideas as to what the problem might be? It's not so much fun when we can't be logged in at the same time :-(.

Just a wild guess, but did one of you accidentally reinstall NWN with the other's copy, when you changed to Vista?
You might both be using the same CD key by mistake.

Did that when I bought my new desktop recently.

Doesnt GS stop that with "your cd key is already in use"?

MK's correct. It wouldn't let two keys be used at the same time. If it wasn't that you made sure each game is assigned another port in the ini file, I would have bet that.

So, have you tried hooking up without the router? Maybe just use a hub and see if you get anything different? At least then, you might get an idea if the problem is the router or not.

Glad you got it fixed Ens, I was going to suggest a firmware upgrade for your old router if you still have it that is. If you want give me a shout, I can swing by and take a peak at it. Btw what did you do with your old system(s)? FYI - I might be able to get you some extra x-mas cash for them if you are not using them.

Hey Coug - the old box is sitting next to the new box. :-) I was going to pay to have the harddrive wiped and then the rest of it junked (standard $.35/#), but if you guys think you can do something with it, you're more than welcome to come take a peek.
